Elections can either deepen division or strengthen unity depending on how people approach them. At their best, elections are one of the few peaceful ways societies allow millions of different voices to be heard while still moving forward together. Elections should not divide us into enemies. They should remind us that despite our differences, we all share responsibility for the future of our communities, our country, and our world.

As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of our nation, let us remember that whether the officials serving our cities and counties are elected or appointed, they deserve to be treated with respect and kindness. Public service often requires making difficult decisions, much like the generations before us who helped shape this country.

Our communities are strongest when we can come together, even when we may disagree. This anniversary is an opportunity to reflect on our shared history, honor the sacrifices of our ancestors, and celebrate the enduring spirit of our nation. Let us strive to be united as we celebrate our country’s birthday together.

Notice to Henry County Voters:

Please be advised that Henry County’s Congressional District designation has changed. Henry County will now be part of Congressional District 5. Previously, Henry County was included in Congressional District 8.

Updated voter registration cards reflecting this change will be issued at a later date. At this time, voters may continue using their current voter registration cards for all voting purposes.

The Election Commission is continuing to work with the State of Tennessee to obtain additional guidance and clarification regarding this transition. Additional information will be provided to the public as it becomes available and as we move closer to the upcoming election cycle.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Henry County schools ARE CLOSED today due to the school system has to prepare their calendar so early which is ahead of when we can decide on primary or caucus during the mid-term years. Yes, they are closed for Election Day if that is needed but in Henry County, as I posted earlier, our parties did decide to caucus. Sorry for all of the confusion.

Henry County voters:

The local Republican and Democratic parties have chosen to hold caucuses instead of a primary election. Because of this, Henry County is one of the few counties that will NOT have a primary today.

The next election in Henry County will be held on August 6, 2026.

More information regarding important dates, deadlines, and voting times will be posted later today and throughout the coming month. Please stay tuned and be sure you are prepared to participate.

It was a great time participating in the Fish Fry parade! We handed out lots of flyers to help inform voters about the upcoming 2026 elections and had the chance to meet and talk with people from all over. I was proud to share what makes Henry County such a great place.

One funny moment—so many people asked Uncle Sam for help with their taxes! That opened the door to an important question: Who sets tax rates? The answer is simple—our elected officials. It’s a good reminder that if we want a say in those decisions, we have to show up and vote.

Thank you to Joseph Jones for capturing such great photos from the event!

Uncle Sam wants YOU — to go vote 🇺🇸
