If you receive a phone call from someone advising you that you have won money or items from a sweepstakes - it's a scam!

The caller will ask you to go and buy a prepaid money credit card from somewhere like Walgreens, CVS or Wal-Mart. They will also ask you to give them the card number and they will either send you the items or the money.

They will also info the "winner" to assist with the processing fee. Please be aware and cautious of these types of scams. Please make elderly family and friends aware of these types of scams so they don't fall victim.

Beware of Phone Scams!
Scammers are calling citizens, claiming they are involved in some form of federal or local litigation. They use the ruse that the citizen missed court or jury duty and that an arrest warrant has now been issued. The scammers have some personal information and will question you to gather more. They will advise you to pay a fine and ask you to use one of several payment methods. Remember, federal or local law enforcement will not call you requesting money. If you feel you have been a victim of any type of scam, please contact your local law enforcement agency.
