Today we celebrated an exciting milestone with the groundbreaking of new housing in partnership with Habitat for Humanity.

This project represents more than just new homes — it represents opportunity, stability, and hope for families in our community. Grateful to everyone who helped make this vision possible through teamwork, partnership, and a shared commitment to improving lives.

Looking forward to seeing these homes become a place where families can grow and thrive for years to come. 🏡🔨

Join me this Memorial Day as we come together to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. 🇺🇸

This day is a time for reflection, gratitude, and unity as we pay tribute to our fallen heroes and the families who carry their legacy forward. I invite our community to stand together in remembrance and appreciation for those who served with courage and honor.

I hope to see you there as we honor their sacrifice and celebrate the freedoms they helped protect.

⚠️ The City of Paramount is actively monitoring the impacts of an oil pipeline leak that occurred upstream in East Los Angeles earlier today, Friday, May 22. While the leak has been successfully controlled and shut off by emergency crews, a portion of the crude oil entered local storm drains and traveled into the Los Angeles River.

Because our City sits along the LA River (right by Dills Park), containment booms are visible upstream, and residents may experience strong, oil-type odors. County health and environmental teams are on-site monitoring air quality and overseeing the cleanup.

What you can do to stay safe:
🛑 If you smell strong odors outside, close your windows and doors. Turn off HVAC systems or air conditioners that pull in outside air until the odor passes.
🛑 Stay completely away from the riverbed and contaminated debris. Keep children and pets far away from the affected areas.
🛑 Look out for vulnerable individuals who are more sensitive to air pollution, including older adults, children and those with asthma or breathing conditions.

Resources and Reporting:
✔️ Report severe odors directly to the South Coast AQMD at 1-800-288-7664
✔️ Sign up for real-time local emergency alerts at www.paramountcity.gov/nixle

We are in direct contact with LA County and State emergency managers and will continue to share verified updates as they become available.

Happy Public Works Week!

Today we recognize and thank the hardworking men and women who keep our city running every single day. From maintaining our streets and infrastructure to ensuring clean water, safe neighborhoods, and reliable services, our Public Works team plays a vital role in the quality of life for our residents.

Their dedication often happens behind the scenes, but the impact of their work is seen throughout our community every day. As Mayor, I am grateful for their commitment, professionalism, and service to our city.

Please join me in thanking our Public Works employees for all they do during National Public Works Week.
