The Paramount Community Coalition Against Toxics

The Paramount Community Coalition Against Toxics Combating Pollution, City of Paramount, We request that grinding be done indoors. Both are located near 2 elementary schools and residential homes.

Going on the official record to request from The Paramount City Council and Commission to enact a zoning moratorium on future forging and grinding companies in Paramount due to the Hexavalent Chromium reading 350 times the average levels. We know there are 4 forging and 30 grinding companies in Paramount more than any other small city in Southern California. South Coast Air Quality Management Dist

rict has never regulated the grinding industry so they have had carte blanche to do as they please. Currently, Mattco Forge and Press Forge are grinding in open air according to Susan Nakamura of South Coast Air Quality Management District. AQMD is in the process of developing regulations to monitor grinding, but it is a lengthy process. Those of us who were born and raised here, those of us who have had our businesses here, those of us who have children attending this school district have all been busy living our lives, raising our families, and building our careers. We've had the utmost and have placed our utmost confidence in our city council. But, after these discoverings our confidence level in our local government is diminishing and feel they are putting profit before our health. We are all stakeholders in this community and need to start building better community involvement. We need to start attending these city council meetings. We are committed to holding the City Manager, John Moreno and the rest of The Paramount City Council accountable. Enough is enough. Let’s empower ourselves.

Brenda Olmo’s is the last politician to be on the AQMD board. Her primary interest has always been business and industry in Paramount. When it comes to environmental justice she has never represented the people. The is a shame.

A huge congratulations to Paramount Councilwoman Brenda Olmos on her incredible victory as our next representative on the South Coast AQMD Board!

Brenda will proudly serve and represent 51 communities, including all seven cities in AD 62. ✅ This is a monumental win, Brenda—your leadership is exactly what we need. Let’s keep fighting for the communities that need our voice the most! 👏🏽👏🏽🇺🇸 (Oh, I hear you have some cool shoes to fill 😉😉) 👏🏽👏🏽🇺🇸
