2026 Zipp Recon Ride #2 - Big Walnut Watershed (Dust Bowl 100) is this Sunday (5/17) at 2:00pm!

🔸Date/Time: Sunday, May 17, 2026 - 2:00pm
🔸Start Location: North Putnam High School, 8869 250 E, Roachdale, IN 46172
🔸Ride Details: This ride covers the northernmost portion of the 100-mile route. Highlights of this route include two covered bridges, a historic iron bridge, and 4 crossings of Big Walnut Creek. 29 miles.

will be on-site providing support and snacks, will be providing hydration and giveaways, and .second will be sampling their C30/C30+ gels and providing fueling guidance!

These rides are open to anyone and everyone (you don’t have to be registered for the Dust Bowl 100 to participate), and we’ll have multiple pace groups to ensure everyone has people to ride with!

🔸About the Zipp Recon Ride Series🔸
The Zipp Recon Ride Series is back for 2026 and will consist of 3 group rides leading up to the 2026 Dust Bowl 100 presented by Zipp. Each ride will be approximately 30 miles in distance and will cover a different portion of the DB100 race course. Riders that participate in all 3 Zipp Recon Rides and the Zipp Pre-Ride (which takes place the day before the DB100) will see over 90% of the Dust Bowl 100 course before race day!

Overnight lane closures to impact I-70 in Putnam, Morgan County

PUTNAM & MORGAN COUNTY, Ind. - The Indiana Department of Transportation announces overnight lane closures on I-70 in both eastbound and westbound lanes.

Beginning on or after Monday, May 11, INDOT contractors will begin overnight lane closures between just west of U.S. 231 (Exit 41) and just east of County Road 1100 W., located near Little Point. The purpose of the lane closures is to resurface this portion of roadway with hot mix asphalt, and to complete bridge maintenance and repairs. Ramp closures are also expected within the limits of this project and will be announced at a later date.

MORGAN COUNTY TO OPEN NEW RECYCLING CENTER ON MAY 1

Morgan County, IN — The highly anticipated new Morgan County recycling center will open to the public on Friday, May 1. The recycling center is located at 6795 SR 67 North, Martinsville, just north of the Centerbrook Drive-in Theater in Centerton. Morgan County Emergency Medical Services also operate from this site.

The new center includes an office and fenced-in area for the recycling containers. Drop-offs will occur inside a fenced area, supervised by full-time staff members during the following hours:

Monday – 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., 1 to 4 p.m.
Wednesday – 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., 1 to 7 p.m.
Friday – 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., 1 to 4 p.m.
Saturday – 8 a.m. to noon

Morgan County Recycling Director Scotty Manley said, “This is a great day for Morgan County and our recycling efforts. This new, centralized location provides an easy, safe and efficient way for people to recycle.”

The following items will be accepted:
Glass bottles and jars
Plastics bottles, jugs and tubs
Steel and aluminum cans, food cans and foil
Magazines, newspapers, catalogs and phonebooks, mail, paperboard and paper cartons
Corrugated cardboard

The only material that needs to be separated is corrugated cardboard. All items should be clean and dry.

Best Way is the County’s new recycling vendor and they will empty the bins on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

May 15 is the last day for recycling drop-off in Morgantown.
