👉 ICYMI: In our last newsletter, we announced the Water Meter Replacement Program. The utility bill you receive next week will use data from these new meters, which each began at a reading of zero.
This is part of the Town of Pantego’s ongoing commitment to providing reliable and cost-efficient water services by replacing meters that have reached the end of their useful life. Your new meter will accurately reflect your actual water usage, which may be higher than recent bills. But, why?
Newer water meters provide more accurate readings because they use sensors instead of mechanical gears. They capture low flows, reduce reading errors, and do not slow down over time from physical wear and tear. As mechanical meters age, they slow – or sometimes fail completely – leading to under-reporting of actual usage.
Monitoring your consumption can help keep monthly costs more manageable. When watering your lawn, remember:
💧 2 or 3 minutes per station
💧 2 to 4 watering cycles
💧 Wait 30 minutes between cycles
