We are excited to have you as part of our school family and encourage you to join us by becoming actively involved in creating a positive learning environment and celebrating our success along the way. There are many opportunities in which you may become involved: A-FIT (Angler-Family Involvement Team), SAC (School Advisory Council), and volunteering in classrooms or with special projects…we love

our volunteers! Believing that all of our students will be a success, we will focus on learning for all, student safety, responsibility, and respect. Together we can make the difference for the students who attend Deer Point Elementary School. We will work to develop model citizens through the use of Positive Behavior Support (PBS) and our school-wide expectations. CAST is a school wide acronym for Control yourself, Act respectfully, Show citizenship and Take responsibility. We are ready to prove it…we are excited to have the opportunity to show it…and we are confident in our collective abilities.

At Deer Point and across our district, it’s all about setting high expectations and working hard to achieve academic goals! This year, Mr. Van Dixon’s fifth grade class made a deal with him about their class goals: if the class averaged 80% or higher for all THREE FAST tests, Mr. V. would wear a tutu, a tiara, and dye his beard pink. 🎀👑😂

Well… the students DID IT! Their hard work, determination, and perseverance paid off, and today Mr. Van Dixon proudly celebrated their success with a little public humiliation. As Mr. V. said, “It was well worth it if the kids were motivated and reached their goals!” Please help us celebrate these amazing students and the hard work they put in all year long. We are so proud of them! 🎉📚

Today was National Speech Language Pathologist Day and we could not let the day go by without saying a HUGE thank you to our Speech Club! These amazing educators go above and beyond every day for our Anglers and we could never put into words how much they are appreciated and loved by everyone who has the pleasure to work with them. Thanks for all that you do Mrs. DeVito, Mrs. Tilghman, and Mrs Stettler! 💙💚🎣

Our 4th grade Anglers decided to go Greek for the day with a Toga Party and Olympic Games! They had javelin throws, foot races and even chariot races! Our friends at Taziki’s even helped to coordinate with parents and teachers to provide some authentic Greek food for the event.

Our 4th graders had a great day of STEM learning today while using the ChompSaws to create shields and armor out of cardboard! They have been reading The One-Eyed Giant, book 1 of Tales From the Odyssey by Mary Pope Osborne. Tomorrow they will have a Greek themed festival to celebrate all they have learned while reading this Florida B.E.S.T. text retelling of Greek mythology. We are pleased to announce that we are expecting! 🪺 We have a mother Killdeer bird who has chosen to lay her eggs in the far PE field. Our friends at FWC came today and marked off the area so that she can continue to sit on her eggs. We are hoping they will hatch before Field Days next week, but if not, the area is roped off so that everyone knows to stay a safe distance away.
Please remind your Angler to be respectful of our visiting bird family. We can’t wait to see the little babies hopping around!
