We Remember. We Honor. We Never Forget.
This morning, the City of Panama City held a solemn ceremony to mark the 25th anniversary of the attacks on September 11, 2001 — a day that changed our lives and our nation forever.
We remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost and honor the families, first responders, firefighters, law enforcement officers, military members, volunteers, and all those whose lives were forever changed.
We especially honor the brave men and women who ran toward the World Trade Center as others ran to safety — putting their own lives at risk to rescue and help others. Some made the ultimate sacrifice and never returned home. We also remember those who survived and have carried the physical and emotional scars of that day with them.
Yet from unimaginable tragedy came an enduring demonstration of the strength, courage, compassion, and resolve of the American spirit — seen in neighbors helping neighbors, volunteers serving wherever they were needed, communities supporting one another, and the continued recovery and rebuilding that followed. We are grateful to see that same spirit alive in our community today.
We would like to thank the Bay County Sheriff's Office, Bay County, Florida Government, Tyndall Air Force Base, and our many partner agencies for coming together with our community today to pay homage and show our respect to all those affected by the events that took place on September 11, 2001.
25 years later, we remember every life. We honor every sacrifice. And we will never forget.
