As per the AAP infant safe sleep guidelines, the use of weighted swaddles, weighted sleep sacks or weighted objects on or near the baby are NOT safe and NOT recommended.

Avoid commercial products that advertise weighted solutions for infant sleep and dispose of weighted items that you have purchased for your baby.

Last year, there was a ban placed on crib bumpers due to the suffocation hazard that they present to infants. Today, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issued this recall on a product sold for infant cribs on Amazon. See the details of this recall in the link found here:

Today we remember Derrick on his 3rd heavenly birthday. Derrick passed away in an unsafe sleep environment when he was laid on an adult mattress with his head on a pillow. He rolled over and suffocated on the mattress. Alex we are thinking of you and your family today and hope the day is gentle for you. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission Warns Consumers to Immediately Stop Using 5in1 Rocker Bassinets Due to Suffocation, Strangulation, and Fall Hazards; Failure to Meet Federal Safety Requirements. The importer, Rev Grace Import Inc., of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, is not cooperating with the CPSC on the recall of this product and not offering a remedy to consumers.
