Police Officer Entry-Level and Lateral Transfer Applications Being Accepted to Update Eligibility Lists for Job Opening;
The City of Pana and Board of Fire and Police Commissioners will be accepting applications for employment to update the entry-level eligibility list and lateral transfer eligibility list, for full-time police officer positions. Minimum requirements for Non-Certified Applicants: U.S. Citizen; High School Diploma or equivalent; minimum 21 years of age, valid driver’s license, not have been convicted of felony or certain misdemeanor offenses defined by statute, and must successfully complete all requested stages of testing.
Lateral Transfer Requirements: All lateral transfer candidates must show they are currently or recently employed within the past 12 months as a full-time certified Peace Officer by a State of Illinois law enforcement agency, with a waiver of training approved by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board. Entry level testing is exempt for lateral transfer applicants.
Police Officer Benefits Include: Union membership representation, 10-hour shifts, rotating 4 or 5 day work week with 3 or 4 days off. 9-step longevity wage scale with 2% increases, starting salary ranging from $5,519.36 to $5,729.62/month with additional 8.91% pension contribution made above base salary by the City for downstate police pension plan. 13 paid holidays, 12 sick days of which 5 can be used as Personal Days, health, dental, and vision plans, and a 50% individual health insurance premium coverage by the City until Medicare age for retirees with 25yrs or more of service.
