FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Inmate Communication System Notifications Causing Confusion
Christian County, Illinois — August 11, 2026 — The Christian County Sheriff’s Office is notifying citizens of an issue involving notifications being generated as part of a software update to the correctional facility’s inmate communication system.
As a result of the update, some citizens are receiving notifications related to previous communications from an inmate. These messages may instruct the recipient to “Reply YES” to accept a service or “Reply STOP” to opt out.
Citizens who receive these notifications regarding previous communications do not need to take any action. The messages can be disregarded and deleted.
The notification format is a legitimate part of the inmate communication system and will be used for future communications involving individuals who are incarcerated after the software update is completed. Citizens who receive a notification regarding a future incarcerated individual should review the message and follow the instructions provided if they wish to receive or respond to the communication.
The current notifications involving previous communications are being generated as a result of the software update. The service provider, along with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office IT personnel, is aware of the issue and is working to correct it.
We apologize for any confusion or inconvenience this issue may cause and appreciate the public’s patience and understanding while the system update is completed.
