We are proud to announce that Mrs. Sandretta Gethers has been named the P*e Dee Region School Counselor of the Year for the 2025-2026 school year!

As Hannah-Pamplico High School's school counselor, Mrs. Gethers wears many hats and serves as a champion for our students every day. From academic planning and graduation readiness to social-emotional support and college and career counseling, she consistently goes above and beyond to help students succeed.

Mrs. Gethers also leads numerous initiatives that make a lasting impact on our school community, including Career Day, college and financial aid programs, and the Helping Hands Committee. Through her leadership, Helping Hands welcomes new students, promotes school involvement, and partners with the Manna House to operate an on-campus food pantry that serves students and community members.

"Mrs. Gethers goes above and beyond every day for our students, families, and staff," said Principal Jordan Ward. "She is a tremendous asset to our school and community, and this recognition is well deserved."

Florence County School District No. Two Citizens’ Budget Meeting

The Florence County School No. Two Board of Trustees approved at its regular meeting on May 18, 2026, to hold a Citizens’ Budget meeting on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. in the Hannah-Pamplico Elementary/Middle School Media Center for the purpose of establishing a General Fund Budget and Proposed Millage according to the guidelines set by Act 388 and Act 297.

The District’s current operational millage is 246.1. Allowable millage increase, as authorized by the Office of Revenue and Fiscal Affairs, is 2.63%, which equates to 6.47 mills. The proposed operation millage for 2026-2027 is 252.6.

Florence County School District 2 to Waive Tuition for Out-of-District Students in 2026-2027

Florence County School District 2 will again waive tuition for nonresident students for the 2026-2027 school year. Students accepted from outside the district may enroll in Hannah-Pamplico Elementary/Middle School or Hannah-Pamplico High School tuition-free.

To enroll, nonresident students must provide a release letter from their home district and academic records such as report cards and/or transcripts, attendance records, and disciplinary records from their current or previous school.

While the district is eager to welcome nonresident students, it is important to note that the district reserves the right to deny admission to any nonresident students if their admission would cause overcrowding, exceed maximum enrollment limits in classrooms or programs, or create difficulties for the educational program.

Florence County School District 2 Board of Trustees Election Results

The Florence County School District 2 Board Election was held today, March 19, 2026, from 7:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. for three seats.

Incumbent Elleveen T. Poston ran for Seat No. 3, incumbent Thadis D. Calcutt, Jr. ran for Seat No. 4, and incumbent Mark L. Campbell ran for Seat No. 5.

Florence County School District 2 Schools moving to eLearning for Monday, March 16, 2026

Due to the forecasted severe weather, Florence County School District 2 will operate on an eLearning Day on Monday, March 16, 2026. All schools and district offices will be closed.

Students will receive instructional assignments to complete remotely. During the eLearning day, students are encouraged to contact their teachers via email or Google Classroom for instructional support.

Students without internet access or other barriers will have five (5) school days after returning to campus to submit their eLearning assignments. Assignments will be graded in accordance with each teacher’s grading policy.

The district’s technology team will provide technical support to students and parents throughout the eLearning event. To reach the team, call 843-493-9207 or email [email protected]. Support is available from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Staff should work from home, unless notified otherwise by your principal or supervisor.

The district will continue to monitor weather conditions and provide updates as necessary. Any additional announcements will be communicated through the district’s automated calling system, website, social media platforms, and local media outlets.

Florence County School District 2 Schools will continue eLearning for Tuesday, February 3, 2026

Due to hazardous conditions on secondary roads in the district, Florence County School District Two will operate on an eLearning Day on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.

All schools and district offices will be closed. Instruction will continue remotely through eLearning. Extracurricular activities, including athletics and other activities scheduled for Tuesday, February 3, are canceled.

School staff and teachers will communicate any additional expectations and instructions for the eLearning day.

Students unable to participate in eLearning due to power outages, lack of internet access, or other barriers will have five (5) school days after returning to campus to submit their eLearning assignments. Assignments will be graded according to each teacher’s grading policy.

The district will continue to monitor weather conditions and provide updates as necessary. Any additional announcements will be communicated through the district’s automated calling system, website, social media platforms, and local media outlets.

Due to inclement weather, all Florence County School District Two offices and schools will operate on a two-hour delay on Monday, January 26, 2026. Students and staff should report two hours after their normal arrival time.

School buses will run two hours later than their regularly scheduled pickup times.

Hannah-Pamplico High School’s Casey Cooper Named 2025 South Carolina Health Science Educator Teacher of the Year

Florence County School District 2 is proud to announce that Casey Cooper, Health Science Teacher, has been named the 2025 Teacher of the Year by the South Carolina Health Science Educators, a division of the SC Association of Career and Technical Education.

This prestigious statewide award recognizes health science educators who demonstrate exceptional leadership, innovation, and a deep commitment to preparing students for successful careers in healthcare. Mrs. Cooper was selected for her outstanding contributions in expanding hands-on learning opportunities and building strong partnerships with McLeod Health and other healthcare providers to offer meaningful work-based learning experiences. Her efforts have elevated the quality and expectations of health science education not only at Hannah-Pamplico High School but across multiple schools she has supported.

In addition to her work at Hannah-Pamplico High School, Mrs. Cooper served as an advisor during the startup of the health science program at Johnsonville High School in the 2024-2025 school year. In addition, she has also served as a mentor to health science teachers across the region, offering guidance, resources, and support to strengthen health science programming beyond her own classroom.

“Casey Cooper exemplifies excellence,” said Dr. Neal Vincent, Superintendent of Florence County School District Two. “Her dedication to students, passion for health science, and willingness to support and expand health science initiatives across the region reflect her unwavering commitment to the profession. We are incredibly proud of her accomplishments and the meaningful impact she makes every day.”

Under Mrs. Cooper’s leadership, the Health Science program at Hannah-Pamplico High School has continued to expand, providing valuable certification opportunities, challenging coursework, and real-world learning experiences that prepare students for future healthcare careers.

Remembering Mr. Theodore Allison

We are saddened to share that Mr. Theodore Allison, a former FCSD2 Board of Trustees member, passed away on August 28, 2025. Mr. Allison served our district with distinction from 1972 to 1995. Throughout his tenure, he demonstrated unwavering dedication and integrity, earning the respect of colleagues and the community alike. His genuine care for students and staff left a lasting impact.
