Yes. Our data is our personal property - and multi billion dollar corporation should have no rights over it, much less a monopoly. The Sun-Times should be commended for calling attention to this. SB1502 in Illinois is important - it's important for you and me, but also for every kid who hasn't been using the internet yet. In a week you will have the opportunity to voice your support for the bill by filing a witness slip as a proponent and sending a strong message to the Illinois General Assembly that each of us as private citizens and constituents expect them to stand up to profit-aligned special interests and defend our privacy by giving us the tool to demand transparency into sensitive data profiteering by the corporate titans of Silicon Valley.

We need transparency on the internet. Please share this with your friends and tell your Representative to vote YES on the Right to Know Act.

Important piece of legislation I've been working on since last November with and Rep. Art Turner (HB2774) and Sen. Michael Hastings (SB1502) - Using online services shouldn't be a privilege, and we shouldn't be subject to the whims of CEOs and their desire for larger and larger sized profits off our sensitive personal information - everyone deserves to know how their sensitive personal information is being handled and where it is going...the IL Right to Know Act would be the first law of its kind in the US that provides consumers with such a tool.
