The Palo Alto Fire Department is launching Palo Alto Fire Medic 1, a new single-function EMS provider role focused on delivering high-paced, high-quality emergency medical service to the Palo Alto community. Both Paramedics and EMTs are encouraged to apply. Selected candidates will move forward through a competitive recruitment process and into the Palo Alto Fire Medic 1 EMS Academy, anticipated to begin in early fall.

On the Ash stage: Batuki is a high energy Latin fusion band from the San Francisco Bay Area, featuring percussion, melodic instruments, multilingual vocals and electronic samples. On the El Camino stage: Experience Gypsy Tribe, passionately combining the essence of Spain, Brazil, the Middle East, North and Latin America. Max Darrow, KPIX Channel 5 TV News Anchor/Reporter will be Thursday Live emcee and host for the evening. Planned activities include a kids zone and activities hosted by the Pacific Art League, photo booth, and giveaways. Santa Clara County Mosquito & Vector Control District recently surveyed the Baylands Athletic Center pond and East Palo Alto after a high abundance of mosquitoes was observed. To proactively address emergence from the pond, they will apply a larvicide treatment by drone because of pond access challenges. The drone operator has requested FAA clearance, and if approved, the treatment is planned for as early as Monday, June 15 and should take one to two hours. The City is applying for a Prohousing Designation from the State of California, recognizing housing achievements over the last several years, including the successful implementation of many Housing Element programs. A Prohousing Designation would give Palo Alto a meaningful advantage when pursuing State housing and infrastructure funding and allow the City to access additional funding for housing efforts. Members of the public may view the draft application materials online through Wednesday, June 17 and provide feedback. Learn more at www.paloalto.gov/prohousingapplication.
