Today we had the honor of celebrating Jo Shull on her retirement from the Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office after just shy of 28 years of dedicated service as a Communications Officer and Supervisor.

Jo has been a calm and reassuring voice during emergencies and a trusted presence for deputies, first responders, and the community for nearly three decades. Her professionalism, compassion, and dedication to helping others have made a lasting impact on so many lives.

While retirement is well deserved, she will certainly be missed by everyone who had the privilege of working with her. Congratulations, Jo, and thank you for your years of service to Fluvanna County. Wishing you happiness and relaxation in this next chapter!

We have certainly been busy around the county as the weather turned warm and then brought some much needed rain. Between graduations, county fairs, community events, and everything in between, it has been a busy and rewarding season here in Fluvanna County.

Before too much more time passed, we wanted to take a moment to reflect back on National Police Week and National Peace Officers Memorial Day and simply say thank you.

We truly love what we do, and we truly love where we do it. That is because of the people of Fluvanna County. Every day, we have the privilege of serving and protecting a community that consistently supports us and reminds us why this profession matters.

During National Police Week, the kindness shown to our office was overwhelming. Food trucks stopped by, catered lunches were brought in, cards were delivered, and snacks filled our break rooms. Those gestures may seem small, but to the men and women working long hours away from their families, they meant a great deal.

We were also honored to recognize some of the outstanding employees who help make this office what it is every single day.

Congratulations to Communications Supervisor Brian Deane and Investigator Declan Hickey for being recognized as our Communications Officer of the Quarter and Deputy of the Quarter.

From all of us at the Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office, thank you for continuing to support your first responders. We are proud to serve this community every single day.

Memorial Day is more than the start of summer. It is a day of reflection, gratitude, and remembrance for those who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect the freedoms we enjoy every day.

As we gather with family and friends, we encourage everyone to take a moment to remember the heroes who never made it home. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.

From all of us at the Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office, we wish everyone a safe Memorial Day weekend. 🇺🇸

🎓💙💛Class of 2026!!! 💛💙🎓

We are proud of you, proud to support our schools, and excited to see what comes next for each of you. Stay safe, celebrate responsibly, and enjoy every minute of this milestone.

Please expect increased traffic and congestion around Fluvanna County High School and Pleasant Grove Park throughout the day as families and community members gather to celebrate our graduates. Graduation begins rain or shine at 6pm (we’re hoping for at least no rain!)

We appreciate everyone’s patience and help in keeping the area safe for all.

☀️🥧What a fun way to close out the school year! 🥧☀️

We’re proud of the strong relationships our School Resource Officers build with students and staff throughout the year. Moments like this remind us that being present in our schools is about more than safety: it’s about trust, connection, mentorship, and community.
A big thank you to our own Deputy Morrison for being such a great sport and helping create lasting memories for these students!
Wishing all students, staff, and families a safe and happy summer break from your Fluvanna Sheriff’s Office💙

Happy Mother’s Day to the real people who enforce the rules. 💙
Today we celebrate all the amazing mothers, stepmothers, grandmothers, foster moms, and mother figures in our community and within our Sheriff’s Office family.

Whether you are serving the community, serving breakfast in bed requests, or serving up life advice, we appreciate everything you do.

And remember:
A deputy may carry a badge, but Mom has had jurisdiction for years!!

Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at the Sheriff’s Office! 🌷👮‍♀️
