A new law (LB530) taking effect Sept. 3, 2025 is raising fines for speeding violations across Nebraska.

Infractions under the new penalties include:

1–5 mph over: $50 (up from $10)
6–9 mph over: $75 (up from $25)
10–14 mph over: $125 (up from $75)
15–19 mph over: $200 (up from $125)
20–34 mph over: $300 (up from $200)
35 mph or more over: $400 (up from $300)

**Driving more than twice the posted speed limit is now classified as reckless driving.**

As of 0935, 911 services and the public phone lines have been fully restored.

The Otoe County Communications Center's 911 services are currently unavailable due to a damaged fiber line. This will also affect the 402-873-9560 number.
For non-emergency calls, please call 402-873-9525.

911 calls are being rerouted to surrounding communications centers. Your call will be answered. The surrounding agencies will forwarded your information back to the Otoe County Communications Center where the appropriate law enforcement or fire/rescue agency will respond.
