Congratulations to NRFD's newest Charge Medic, Firefighter Tony Perez!

Firefighter Perez brings a career's worth of experience, knowledge, and dedication to the fire rescue profession. Throughout his career, he has served countless citizens, supported fellow first responders, and developed a wealth of expertise that can only be gained through years of service.

We are especially fortunate that Firefighter Perez chose to bring that experience to NRFD. While he has already accomplished so much throughout his career, he still has a tremendous amount to share, teach, and contribute. His leadership, mentorship, and commitment to excellence will benefit both our personnel and the community we serve.

The residents of Manatee County and the members of NRFD are fortunate to have Firefighter Perez on our team. Congratulations on your new role as Charge Medic. We are proud to have you with us and look forward to the positive impact you will continue to make for years to come.

Today, we brought our firefighter obstacle course to Rocky Bluff Library for their Summer 2026 Kickoff event! We had a fantastic time connecting with the community and getting everyone excited for a fun summer.

The Bradenton Marauders’ Marty officially became an Honorary North River Firefighter today, and we can confidently say he’s welcome to join our crew anytime!

We wish everyone a happy summer. Stay cool, safe, and hydrated, and most importantly, have fun making great memories with family and friends!

On Memorial Day, we honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives for our country, along with those still missing in action. We will always remember their courage, dedication, and sacrifice.

Training for the job before the emergency happens. 🚒🏢

This week, our crews trained at a brand new multi-floor apartment complex in our response area before residents move in. These opportunities are invaluable for preparing our firefighters to safely and effectively respond in the event of an emergency.

Crews practiced:
• Vertical hose stretches to upper floors
• Standpipe operations and hose deployments
• Extended attack line stretches through large apartment layouts and long hallways

Training in buildings before occupancy allows firefighters to become familiar with the layout, stairwells, standpipe locations, access points, and challenges unique to the structure, all while improving coordination, efficiency, and firefighter safety.

We appreciate the opportunity to train in these new developments as our community continues to grow. Preparation today helps us provide the best possible response tomorrow.

Today, on National Peace Officers Memorial Day, we honor the brave men and women in law enforcement who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities and our country.

The North River Fire District stands beside our law enforcement partners as we remember those who gave their lives protecting others and recognize the dedication of those who continue to serve every day.

We are grateful for the courage, commitment, and sacrifice of all law enforcement officers, past and present. Their service will never be forgotten. 🇺🇸🚔🖤💙💚

Today our Community Outreach staff is attending the Florida Suncoast Safe Kids Coalition Florida Summit 2026 at the Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital campus.

Fire Departments, Police Departments, Department of Transportation, City and County agencies, Non-Profits, and over 300 agencies from Pinellas, Pasco, Polk, Sarasota, and Manatee counties have come together to collaborate on ways to keep our communities safe.

Topics throughout the summit include swim safety presented by Mrs. Universe Amber Uhler, who has worked to help pass legislation in the State of Florida providing free swimming lesson vouchers to the public. Additional discussions include bicycle and E-Bike safety, gun safety, Community Paramedicine, and many other important community initiatives.

We would like to thank Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital for bringing agencies together and serving as a vital connection in helping us provide these impactful community programs to the families we serve every day.
