Palmetto Community Redevelopment Agency

The Palmetto CRA is a government entity dedicated to revitalizing the community.

Founded in 1985, under the guidelines set in the Community Redevelopment Act of 1969 and updated with Florida Statute 163, Part III, the Palmetto CRA’s goal is to improve the quality of life for all who live in the CRA area by striving to better the area in every way possible. The CRA mission emphasizes public safety, infrastructure, commerce, accountability, property maintenance and image. Funded

primarily by tax increment financing, the CRA encourages strategic investments to promote a vibrant and healthy economy.

Reminder! Join the Palmetto CRA on Wednesday, June 3rd from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the Palmetto Branch Library for a free community information session.

Learn about available grant programs, community projects, and updates on the City’s Flood Vulnerability Assessment. CRA, Code Enforcement, and Police staff will also be on site to answer questions from residents and business owners.

Learn about available Residential, Junk Abatement, and Commercial Facade Enhancement Grant programs, receive updates on local community projects, and review the City’s Flood Vulnerability Assessment and what’s next for our community.

This month, we would like to highlight Jenny Silverio 🤍

Jenny has been with the Palmetto CRA for 15 years and serves as the Administrative & Compliance Coordinator, playing a key role in keeping the department running efficiently every day. From managing proposals, agreements, programs, and grants to ensuring compliance and supporting daily operations, she is truly the backbone of the team.

She also oversees CRA-owned properties and projects, supports leadership, and serves as a go-to resource for problem solving and organization across the department.

With a background in public safety and healthcare, Jenny brings a thoughtful, hands-on approach to her work. Her passion for helping the citizens of Palmetto and improving the community shines through in everything she does.

Update on the Women’s Club

Progress continues on revitalizing this historic space as we move closer to reopening.

We’re currently working on an RFP for an operator and shaping the venue into a more accessible option for the community, with multiple areas for different types of events.

With improvements underway, we’re aiming for a summer timeline and hopeful for a Fourth of July celebration, followed by a grand opening once bookings officially open.
