Palmetto Community Redevelopment Agency The Palmetto CRA is a government entity dedicated to revitalizing the community.

Founded in 1985, under the guidelines set in the Community Redevelopment Act of 1969 and updated with Florida Statute 163, Part III, the Palmetto CRA’s goal is to improve the quality of life for all who live in the CRA area by striving to better the area in every way possible. The CRA mission emphasizes public safety, infrastructure, commerce, accountability, property maintenance and image. Funded

primarily by tax increment financing, the CRA encourages strategic investments to promote a vibrant and healthy economy.

The countdown to Palmetto Fourth Fest continues with another look at the historic landmarks featured on this year's downtown banner collection.

This week, we're highlighting the Palmetto School House, Old Main Street, Crusader Building, and the Manatee River Waterfront, landmarks that tell the story of Palmetto's growth, history, and deep connection to the river that helped shape our community.

As you explore downtown, keep an eye out for these banners and take a moment to appreciate the people and places that helped shape Palmetto into the city it is today.

Meet Veronica Jolley, a dedicated member of the Palmetto CRA team since joining as an intern in July 2024.

With a background in Russian language and literature and extensive experience in newspaper writing, Veronica played a key role in developing and launching the CRA newsletter while supporting communications, records management, and day-to-day administrative operations.

Veronica is passionate about creating transparency between the CRA and the community, believing that clear communication and accessible information help build trust, credibility, and stronger relationships with residents.

We are grateful for her hard work and commitment to serving the Palmetto community!

In observance of Juneteenth, the Palmetto Community Redevelopment Agency office will be closed on Friday, June 19, 2026.

Juneteenth is a time to honor freedom, reflect on our nation's history, and recognize the resilience and contributions of generations of Black Americans.

Regular office hours will resume on Monday, June 22, 2026.

Thank you to everyone who joined the Palmetto CRA Community Event! It was a great evening connecting with residents, business owners, and community partners while sharing important updates and resources available within the CRA district.

We appreciate everyone who came out to learn more about grant opportunities, local projects, and the City’s Flood Vulnerability Assessment. A special thank you to our CRA, Code Enforcement, and Police staff for taking the time to answer questions and engage with the community.
