The Junk Vehicle Removal Program has reached its funding limit. The good news is, you are still able to drop off junk vehicles free of charge. There is no need to call in advance, simply drop off your vehicle at the address below.

Zero Lake Road Clean-up Assessment:

We have made progress in partnering with DNR and the City of Houston with respect to cleaning up Zero Lake Road. We also connected with the Department of Corrections GEO Reentry Group to provide labor through halfway house residents completing community service requirements. The City of Houston will collect and dispose of bagged trash across the three jurisdictions and remove junk vehicles from State land.

Cleanup efforts will focus on heavily impacted areas, particularly informal shooting areas where spent shells, targets, and other debris have accumulated. The clean-up dates are October 1-2, 2026 and will include spot clean-ups along the road as outlined in a story map.

Staff have included the work that was conducted earlier this year in May with the nonprofit Save AK Spots.
