Known as "The Town of Seven Railroads," the Town of Palmer is comprised of four separate and distinct villages; Depot Village, Thorndike, Three Rivers, and Bondsville. Founded in 1746, Palmer has a long history supporting industry along the Ware, Swift, Quabog, and Chicopee

Rivers. Thanks to its interchange with the Massachusetts Turnpike, intersection with commercial train lines and proximity to the Five College Area, the Town of Palmer is a premier location for economic and community development in Western Massachusetts.

ALERT: Detour on Main St., Thorndike

Main St. Thorndike will be closed to thru traffic at the railroad crossing (between Town Hall and Kirkwood Place) while crews replace the Railroad Crossing.

The Temporary Closure and Detour will be from:
7:00 a.m. Saturday June 20,2026, until 6:00 p.m. Sunday June 21, 2026

Main St. Thorndike residences numbered from 4400 through 4428 (even side of street) as well as the Town Hall and Police Department will only be accessible from the Sykes St. (RT. 181 – 4-Corners) side.

Main St. Thorndike residences numbered from 4000 through 4216 (even side of
street) and 4023 and 4215 Main St. (odd side), as well as the Palmer Public School
Campus will only be accessible from High St., Commercial St., and Church St.

Students from Ms. O'Brien's 5th Grade Class have created a time capsule to be buried alongside the 1976 capsule. Both are set to be opened in 2076. Come by and congratulate our students and celebrate its official burying.

Browse our Revolutionary War exhibit that will be on loan from The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, and sign a scroll to commemorate the 250th!

Announcement from our Health Director:

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) is
advising consumers, retailers, and clinicians about multiple
recent Salmonella outbreaks associated with recalled
moringa-containing products, including powders, capsules,
and other dietary supplements. Massachusetts is among
the states with reported cases

FDA is advising consumers not to eat, sell, or distribute recalled moringa powder dietary supplements sold under the Tnvitamins, Doctor’s Pride, and Mogo brands due to possible Salmonella contamination.

FDA has issued advisories for two Salmonella outbreaks linked to products containing moringa leaf powder.

Check your home and throw these recalled products away.

Have you ever wanted to learn how to fish? Now’s your chance, let the MassWildlife Angler Education Program be your guide. We’ll have equipment on hand for use, as well as terminal tackle, and live bait. You’ll learn the basics, from casting out, to baiting up, and the best part - you’ll be able to fish. So come try your hand at this great pastime, guaranteed to catch some fun! Pre- registration is required. Please note: This is not a kids only program, but an all-inclusive fishing clinic for anyone of any age that wants to learn how to fish.

Forest Lake Beach | 723 River St, Palmer

Join us at Forest Lake Beach Boat Launch! Instruction will focus on kayaks and canoes. Please bring your own boat, paddles, and SCG-approved wearable life jacket (PFD).

Please fill in your details to complete the registration process and submit one registration per attendee. This program is limited to 25 Paddlers aged 14+. Paddlers aged 14- 18 must have a caregiver present.
