SUTTON COMMUNITY CLEAN-UP 2026
Earlier this summer, from May 27th - 30th, Mat-Su Borough employees, volunteers, partnering agencies, organizations, and businesses came together after months of planning to remove junk, trash, and abandoned vehicles throughout Sutton.
Sutton was selected to help evaluate how effectively the C.L.E.A.N.S. Program could reach communities across the Borough's 25,000+ square miles. The community was also identified due to a high concentration of active Code Compliance cases in a relatively small area, providing an opportunity to make a meaningful impact.
The cleanup's success was driven by extensive outreach and community involvement. Borough staff spent months working with property owners, attending local events, conducting door-to-door outreach, and building relationships with residents. Thanks to strong support from the Sutton community and the Sutton Community Council, the project was completed smoothly and helped create a cleaner, safer community.
