“…credited the drop in rates to the online purchasing exchanges the law created, which they say are spurring competition among insurers that are anticipating an influx of new customers.”
So they create a monopoly for the companies allowed to operate in the State, become surprised when prices rise, create an exchange to stimulate competition and combat the rise while simultaneously mandating that everyone carry insurance, then use their own expropriated tax dollars to help subsidize the purchase? And they get to pat themselves on the back for this?
I don’t know which adage is more applicable but they all seem to fit. “The scariest words in the English language are, ‘I’m from the government and I’m here to help’”, “The only thing the government knows how to do is break your leg, hand you a crutch, and say ‘There, aren’t you glad I was here to help?’, or “The welfare state is the oldest con game in the world. First you take people's money away quietly and then you give some of it back to them flamboyantly.”
