Millen Intermediate seeks to provide "Rigorous Curriculum Using the Tools of the 21st Century." We focus on combining Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts/AVID, and Mathematics to equip students for the challenges of working in a global economy. Our school is unique for the Palmdale School District because it was named after Principal Dave Millen. Millen served as a Principal for the Palmdale Sc

hool District for 29 years. In 2004, he succumbed to Lou Gehrig's disease leaving a legacy of service. Millen served as principal at several schools, influenced hundreds of educators, and was a coach to dozens of leaders. The school opened officially as David G. Millen Intermediate in 2013 at the temporary site that is shared with Summerwind Elementary. Before 2013, it existed for two years as Summerwind Intermediate or the "AVID Academy." After four years as a "School of Choice," Millen Intermediate became a neighborhood school in 2014. Construction has begun on the permanent site across from Highland High School, and it is expected to be completed in for the 2015 - 2016 school year.

A huge shoutout to DGM's two Cyber Quests teams that completed on Saturday. DGM's two teams placed in the top 3! DGM's team the 'Tech Masterminds' took 1st place with a very professional presentation about the benefits and dangers of social media on today's youth. DGM's team the 'Storytellers' placed 3rd with a very compelling presentation that included skits and riveting story telling about social media's benefits. Cyber Quest is a competition for advanced students and is held every year in Palmdale School District. Our hats are off to our students, parents, and our AMAZING coaches Ms. Anna Leon and Mr. Anthony Florence. Way to go Trailblazers!
