💧Desert Water Agency has increased its Help2Others bill assistance program to better support our community!

Income-eligible customers can now receive a one-time $300 credit per 12-month period to help pay their water bills. This is a $100 increase from the previous $200 limit. With this boost, the program can now cover about two months of an average residential water bill.

We know that rising costs create real hardships. Our goal, in partnership with Inland SoCal United Way, is to ease the burden and help families avoid water service shutoffs.

I am excited to see where Ms. Nemeth leads ACWA, on whose board I sit, as ACWA leads the conversation about what is needed to develop a robust system that supports future economic development, healthy communities and sustainable environments in California.

Desert Water Agency was honored to host the California Department of Water Resources this week for filming of a special series on State Water Project contractors and the vital role imported water plays in sustainability and ensuring a vibrant community. The DWR team got some amazing footage of our facilities and chatted with DWA General Manager Esther Saenz about how we safeguard our water and ensure a reliable supply to support customers and the region.

Thanks to the Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce and Visit Greater Palm Springs for joining the conversation and discussing with DWR how water reliability keeps our local economy thriving and our tourism booming.

As water challenges in the West continue, innovative solutions and regional cooperation are key, even when it means crossing state lines, boundaries that Mother Nature does not recognize.

It will be interesting to see how this develops, ever provides a roadmap for similar types of arrangements across the western United States, and perhaps even beyond national boundaries.
