The Office of Sustainability is offering rebates of up to $750 to licensed businesses through a Sustainability Scholarship Program to help defray costs associated with sustainability-related expenses. Our goal for the program is to help improve business’ ability to comply with growing environmental mandates and to spur interest in important actions that will have positive environmental impact.
We are encouraging restaurants and hotels that serve food to take advantage of this program while funding is available. Funds can be utilized to meet the City and State mandatory recycling and organics management requirements.
We encourage food service businesses to use the funds for the following types of activities:
• Acquire recycling and organics management containers
• Expand trash enclosures to accommodate recycling and organics management bins
• Pay for recycling and organics management fees above basic waste management costs
• Purchase reusable food ware or other products that replace disposables
• Replace single-use polystyrene containers with environmentally preferable alternatives
