πŸ’™ We are incredibly honored to be one of 32 charitable organizations selected to receive grant funding from the Coeta & Donald Barker Foundation.

This generous support will help us continue expanding our one-to-one mentoring programs and provide more young people across the Coachella Valley with the guidance, encouragement, and opportunities they deserve.

Mentorship has the power to change lives, and partnerships like these help make that impact possible. Every investment in youth today helps create stronger communities tomorrow.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Coeta & Donald Barker Foundation for their commitment to supporting local nonprofits and strengthening the communities we serve.

Together, we are creating bigger futures for local youth. ✨

πŸ’™ More than a mentor. More than a match. Family.

Big Sister Suzy and Little Sister Fatima are our longest graduating match this year, having shared an incredible journey together for more than 9 years. ✨

When they were first matched, Fatima was just 9 years old. Suzy remembers holding her hand as they explored new places together. Today, it’s Fatima who reaches for Suzy’s hand, a simple gesture that reflects the deep bond they’ve built over the years. 🀝

One of their first outings was to Sunnylands Center & Gardens, where Fatima participated in an art class and gifted her drawings to Suzy. Those drawings remain framed and proudly displayed in Suzy’s home to this day. πŸŽ¨πŸ’™

Together they’ve shared countless memories through Big Brothers Big Sisters events, holiday celebrations, and everyday moments that strengthened their connection.

Fatima says one of the most meaningful lessons she learned through the program is that family isn't always defined by blood. She considers Suzy part of her family, and that may be the greatest testament to the power of mentorship. ❀️

Today, Fatima is graduating from Palm Desert High School! πŸŽ“ She plans to attend College of the Desert and pursue her dream of becoming a Psychiatric Ward Nurse. πŸ‘©β€βš•οΈ

Both Suzy and Fatima say their lives have been enriched by this experience, and while this chapter is ending, their friendship is not. They promise to stay connected for years to come. 🌟

Congratulations, Fatima! Your future is bright, and we can't wait to see all you accomplish.

πŸ’™ Five years of friendship, growth, and unforgettable experiences.

Big Sister Miranda and Little Sister Jizelle have been matched for 5 years, creating memories and sharing adventures that have helped shape Jizelle's journey. ✨

From cheering on the Firebirds at hockey games πŸ’ to attending our Breakfast at Macy's holiday shopping event 🎁 and joining many Big Brothers Big Sisters activities throughout the years, these two have built a meaningful and lasting connection.

Through every experience, Miranda has been a source of encouragement, support, and friendship, helping Jizelle grow in confidence as she prepares for her next chapter.

Today, Jizelle is graduating from Coachella Valley High School! πŸŽ“

This fall, she will begin classes at College of the Desert, completing her prerequisites before transferring to a university to pursue a degree in Engineering. βš™οΈπŸŒŸ

We are incredibly proud of Jizelle and all she has accomplished. Congratulations on this exciting milestone and best wishes as you continue working toward your dreams! πŸ’™

πŸ’™ A mentorship match that has grown into a lifelong friendship.

Big Sister Jen and Little Sister Violet have been matched since February 2019, and over the past 7 years they’ve shared countless memories, opportunities, and milestones together. ✨

From modeling at a Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Desert fundraiser and attending community events, to learning how to make pizza and landing her very first job at Jen’s restaurant, Violet has gained experiences that helped shape her future.

Today, Violet is graduating from La Quinta High School πŸŽ“ and already taking classes at College of the Desert. She plans to continue her education in accounting while working and saving for her future before transferring to a university.

When asked what she appreciates most about Jen, Violet shared that she admires her sense of fashion and considers her an incredible role model both mentally and physically. πŸ’«

This is the power of mentorship: showing up, creating opportunities, and helping young people believe in what's possible.

Congratulations, Violet! We can't wait to see what your future holds. 🌟

πŸŽ‰πŸ’™ What a wonderful way to celebrate the end of another school year!

More than 100 Bigs and Littles joined us for our End-of-School-Year Celebration, enjoying an afternoon filled with games, delicious food, arts & crafts, face painting, laughter, and fun. ✨

Events like these give our matches an opportunity to connect, create memories, and celebrate the incredible friendships they've built throughout the year.

One of the most special moments of the day was recognizing the Bigs and Littles who are graduating from our program this year. πŸŽ“ We were honored to celebrate seven graduating Littles as they prepare for exciting new chapters in their lives.

Throughout June, we'll be highlighting each of our graduating Littles and sharing their inspiring stories, future plans, and the impact mentorship has had on their journey. 🌟

Thank you to all of our mentors, families, volunteers, and supporters who help make these life-changing relationships possible.

Mentorship impacts young people in ways that often can’t be measured right away πŸ’™

Behind improved grades, stronger confidence, and emotional growth is often a caring mentor who listened, encouraged, and consistently showed up.

Sometimes the biggest changes happen quietly:
✨ A child starts believing in themselves
✨ They feel more comfortable expressing emotions
✨ They begin setting goals for their future
✨ They realize they are not alone

That’s the hidden power of mentorship, and why investing in young people matters so much.
