I am dedicated to transparency, fiscal responsibility, advocating for the rights of Palm Coast residents, and protecting public safety, health, and welfare. Hello, I'm Darlene Shelley and I am a 14-year Palm Coast resident who has been advocating for the safety, health, and welfare of my family, friends, and neighbors since my retirement in 2019. My husband, Bryan and I have been married for 34 ye
ars and have two wonderful children and three precious grandchildren. I was an operations manager for a large corporation for 25 years and managed our family's florist and garden center for 10 years. I have an Associates of Science Degree in Human Resource Management from Ashworth University, earned a Rutgers Garden Certification, and completed multiple and ongoing continued learning certification credits. I am passionate about citizens' rights, maintaining property values, fiscal responsibility, and keeping Palm Coast a beautiful, affordable, and peaceful place to live and work. I have been very active and vocal in efforts to prevent urban sprawl, protect the environment, oppose incompatible zone changes, and advocate for a high quality of life for Palm Coast residents and their families. My goals include the preservation of our quality of life amid westward expansion, taking steps to ensure air and water purity, resolving flooding issues, improving infrastructure, ensuring development does not exceed capacity limitations, addressing wastewater problems, and finding ways to lower costs of water, electric, and utility fees. I will support only sustainable & well-planned development that enhances our city, is compatible with our communities, does not threaten the safety, health, and welfare of local residents, and will not have negative effects on local property values. I will use my proven experience with fiscal responsibility to prevent wasteful spending, and work to find efficient and effective measures to ease the financial strains on the residents of Palm Coast. I am unabashedly not a politician but can no longer sit on the sidelines and hope for the best. It is time for unity and common sense, to protect the value of our homes, to keep our city affordable and not allow it to lose its charm. I believe we have the rights to a high quality of life, the peaceful enjoyment of our homes, and that our safety, health, and welfare matter. As your City Council member, I will demand transparency, listen to your concerns, be your voice for accountability, work to find solutions that will put local residents first, and help Palm Coast to be a peaceful, beautiful, and healthy place to live and work. Thank you for your consideration and I hope you give me the opportunity to work for you.
