You're invited! Grand Finale of (schoolyear) StoryTime will be extra special, and we'll do this annually! All the children can DRESS UP as their favorite hero/character(s) from a book read this past year!

And, the first 10 children/sibling groups who volunteer can either act out a scene from the book, or tell a bit of the story in "first person" as your book-hero (historical or fictional)! We'll also read stories and share a snack. So fun!

IMPT: Be sure to let Alex know (when RSVPing) which book you've selected, so we can offer copies of it at the event for other kids to enjoy!

[By the way, we'll have news of upcoming SUMMER StoryTime (and June Handy Fair) in the next couple weeks. So, this April event is only the close of the 2025/2026 schoolyear StoryTime series. Reading is for life, not just for the schoolyear, so StoryTime will move to SUMMER program in May & June.]

Just think....before we step inside the library (Gardens or Stuart), the beloved volunteers have already shelved books, prepped new titles, preserved worn ones, and pulled reserves — all while juggling their own busy family/educational schedules. They have kids too!

In May, we’re planning a special appreciation event for them (and their families) with great food, fellowship, and thoughtful surprises.

What they don't know about (until just now!) is that this is a chance for you to also celebrate their dedication serving us all! If you've been blessed by the volunteers, please consider contributing (with the QR codes in the post or in the jar next time you visit) toward providing this thank-you event. All together, let's thank them for the incredible difference they make in our LLL community!

**Spring Break Living Library Closure Upcoming**

To ease planning, we've decided to henceforward follow PB public school timing for Spring Break, only because it's so widely known. (We're NOT part of the school system!)

Thus, Living Learning Library (both PBG & Stuart branches) will close March 16-20 for Spring Break (when we tackle big projects).. Come stock up on wonderful books before the break!

Also, StoryTime (at PBG branch) will be canceled for March, since it would fall during the Break time. April's StoryTime will be even more precious!

** Valentine Story Time & Exchange **

What: Valentine StoryTime & exchange of valentines (FREE)
When: Tuesday, February 10, 10:00 am (pls note, this is 2nd Tuesday of month)
Where: Courtyard of LLL Northlake branch (indoors, if rainy)

Who: First 40 registered kids, members or guests (RSVP extra-required, for sake of valentines-making count). Please see the important notes below so kids are ready for valentine exchange.

Now, for the fun!: Our February StoryTime will be extra special with a Valentine exchange. Get creative by making your own Valentine box, and bring 40 Valentines to pass out. Or, if you have multiple children who each want to participate individually, then bring 40 Valentines per child. If you're making a family box, please specify in the RSVP email, so we have a proper headcount. Questions? Email Alex... ([email protected])

Even more fun! The first 4 children (who volunteer) are invited to recite a poem about love (sweet, funny, etc.) from their favorite poet, or one they've created. Please include this willingness in your RSVP email.

Christmas Break Coming Soon (Starts Fri, Dec 12), so come stock up while we're open through end of THIS week!

We're open regularly all THIS week (at both branches).
Today, Dec 9, Northlake (11-3pm).
Last Stuart day is Wed, Dec 10 (2-5pm).
Last Northlake day is Thurs, Dec 11 (2-6pm).

There are many wonderful Christmas books available too! Lots of rich reading can be enjoyed over the break. We re-open at both locations, Monday, Jan 5.

Pleeeease come support the hard-working young entrepreneurs tomorrow. You'll come away with good cookies, bread, plants, jewelry, art, gifts, woodcrafts, guacamole, coffee, and many other gifts! (At least, these are ideas at past HandyFairs. The kids always blow my mind with their ideas, so come see and shop their efforts, please!)

**Flourishing Without Screens**

Parents -- Childhood and education have been radically transformed by technological and related changes. Many of these changes have disrupted healthy youth development. Home-educating parents have a wonderful opportunity to shepherd access and inputs, to set our sons and daughters on the right path!

We will spend one hour together, studying/discussing resources, books, contacts, practices, and habits which will enable us parents to clarify and achieve rich family goals!

***Handy Fair is coming up!***

Saturday, Nov 8, 11am-1pm, in garden of Living Learning Library/Northlake. To avoid holiday rush of years past, we're hosting HandyFair a bit earlier, to see how families like it. Only handmade items crafted/cooked/carved by the children/teens (Library members only). Start inviting your customers! Must register to sell, so we don't overfill courtyard. (Only LLLib member children/teens can sell, but anyone can shop.) It's always a fun day!
