The Marine Corps has two birthdays due to a historical change: November 10, 1775, marks the original founding of the Continental Marines during the Revolutionary War, while July 11, 1798, is the date the modern United States Marine Corps was re-established by Congress. While July 11 was celebrated as the official birthday for over a century, General John A. Lejeune officially moved the celebration to November 10 in 1921 to honor the Corps' original founding.

Why it feels like DST is “sooner” this year
The U.S. moves between DST and standard time based on rules in federal law: DST runs from the second Sunday in March to the first Sunday in November. Because calendar alignment changes from year to year, the first Sunday of November can fall anywhere from November 1 to November 7; in 2025 it lands on November 2, which is why the change happens relatively “sooner” than some people expect.
Federal code codifies this schedule, so the date isn’t arbitrary — it’s just where the calendar places the first Sunday.
