Join Us for a Halloween Zombie Walk!
Join us at 9 a.m. on October 31st, as we team up with Girls Who Hike for our first-ever Halloween Zombie Walk! Make your way along the park’s 1.8-mile paved loop and trails, where creepy crawlies and Spooktacular characters from Halloweens past may be lurking. Bring your best zombie moves, your bravest face, and maybe a little extra courage!
Exciting Activities Await
Also, between 9 a.m. and noon, we will have a photo scavenger hunt where participants can win prizes. Be on the lookout for special Halloween-themed items to capture on camera!
Fun for the Whole Family
In addition to the zombie walk and scavenger hunt, there will be trick-or-treat stations and activities specially designed for kids. It's a perfect opportunity for families to enjoy a morning filled with laughter and Halloween fun.

Final call for vendors! The application and payment deadline of September 11, 2026, is quickly approaching.
A few indoor exhibitor spaces are still available for $35.00. If you offer clothing for book lovers, book-themed collectibles, literary accessories, or vintage books, or if you’re an author or illustrator interested in participating, we’re still accepting applications, but only through this Friday.
Spaces are limited and will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.

Park Drive Closed to Vehicles Notice
The park’s 1.8-mile paved drive is temporarily closed to vehicle traffic because of a washout. We do not currently have an estimated date for when it will reopen.
We apologize for the inconvenience. Visitors with accessibility concerns are encouraged to speak with a staff member or call 386-329-3721.

We’re seeking two food truck vendors to join us at the Garden of Reading Literary Festival on September 26, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The food truck vendor fee is $50.00.

A few indoor exhibitor spaces are still available for a fee of $35.00. Just Bats program had a great turn out of 78 people and 1 bat. Kids enjoyed their time making crafts with Ms. Vicki and participating with the interpreter during the program.
