BSA WINTERFEST COMPETITION:
This weekend, our Explorer Post sent a team to compete in the BSA Winterfest Competition in Gatlinburg, TN. Winterfest is a competition where the Explorers are judged on their performance in a variety of scenarios pertaining to Law Enforcement calls for service. The competition saw Explorer Posts from 17 states across the Southeastern Region of the country. Our Explorers competed against 43 different Law Enforcement Posts in 5 events:
Unknown Trouble
Cell Search
Active Assailant
Domestic Violence
Traffic stops
Our Explorers took 1st place in Cell Searches, and 3rd place in Unknown Trouble. They received praise from many of their instructors, who were impressed by their leadership skills, teamwork, and attention to detail.
We are extremely proud of our Explorers as they represented their agency, county, and state at this competition. We could not be happier with their performance, and we congratulate them on their achievements.
We’d like to thank our advisor team for their dedication to the program, and the hours they’ve put in to prepare the Explorers for this competition. We owe a special thanks to our other Law Enforcement and Corrections Deputies who assisted with their training.
Exploring is a BSA supported organization designed to provide an inside look at career fields such as law enforcement or fire/EMS services. Our Explorer Post serves youth 14-21 who are interested in law enforcement, corrections or communications. They meet on Monday evenings at the sheriff's office.
