This week, Elderwerks CEO Jennifer Prell is presenting "Clutter or Hoarding? When Collections Become Chaos."

At some point in your personal or professional life, you may encounter a hoarding situation. This can be not only overwhelming for those who are hoarding, but also for those who want to help rectify the situation. Understanding this behavior and why it happens will help guide you through a plan that will rectify the situation. In this program, we will talk about the definition of hoarding, the difference between collecting and hoarding, why people hoard, and how we can get the resources to help them with this problem.

This is a Continuing Education (CE) course intended for Illinois nurses, social workers, professional counselors, and home care administrators.

September is Healthy Aging Month, an awareness holiday that reminds older adults about the importance of physical, mental, social, and emotional health as they age.

One thing a person can incorporate into their routine to promote healthy aging, regardless of age, is strength training.

Strength training is exercise that works the muscles to build mass, power, and endurance. In older adults, it's a great way to counterbalance sarcopenia, which is the loss of muscle mass as you age. It also helps build stronger bones and increases mobility and balance. Plus, the stronger you are and the more mobile you are, the less likely you are to fall.

Elderwerks’ Senior Resource Directory is one of the largest senior directories in Illinois. Chronic disease changes the trajectory of one’s life. Often seen in older adults, we are now seeing some of the same chronic diseases manifesting themselves among younger adults. You will learn about the 10 most common chronic diseases in older adults, what that looks like statistically, and compare them to those of younger adults. Discuss prevention for those groups and how the homeless are affected differently.
