What is a D-SNP?
A Dual Special Needs Plan is a type of Medicare Advantage health plan for people with Medicare and Medicaid (without spenddown). It is new to Illinois as of 2026, replacing the Medicare Medicaid Alignment Initiative (MMAI). Eligible individuals can enroll at any time! The 39th Annual Community Paint-A-Thon will be held on September 12, 2026. While the date is a long way off, applications are now available! To qualify, homes must be owned and occupied by older adults ages 60 and older, people with disabilities and veterans of any age. There are income and asset limits but all are encouraged to apply. Applications are due July 1st. Once a home is determined eligible, volunteer teams are matched to do the scraping, priming and painting of the outside of your home. There is no cost to the homeowner. Current Homeowners Insurance is required. For general information or to receive an application for the Paint-A-Thon, call Nancy Frenk in the Social Services Department at 847-991-1112, x222. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact HandsOn Suburban Chicago at 847-228-1320.

We absolutely loved the tour of the chocolate factory today! From the moment we walked in, we could smell chocolate in the air. One of the highlights of our visit was watching the production line at work. Fun fact: one of our attendees actually used to work there in the 80’s 🍫
