I stand with Kayla, and I stand behind every word she said. She is not stirring controversy. She is exposing it. She is raising legitimate, serious concerns about transparency, double standards, accountability, and the disgraceful treatment of selective County employees. These are not vague accusations - they are documented facts showing that County employees are denied fair, unbiased, and consistent processes to address grievances.

Kayla is absolutely right to ask why one employee's case stays within the District Attorney's Office for prosecution while another is referred to a special prosecutor. And, how is it acceptable for an employee within the District Attorney's Office to threaten physical harm in writing against another employee and face no apparent consequences? When the public asked: it was silenced. The public should be outraged by that. Because when the rules apply to some people but not to others, that is not justice - that is favoritism, protection, and corruption of process.

My own documented facts are different from Kayla's, and I will address them in the proper forum. But let me be clear: County management has already shown it is not that forum.

Earlier this year, I made written complaints to County management. Those complaints were ignored. I was told that the County would do nothing because the district attorney could run his office however he pleased. That response is unacceptable. That is not oversight. That is surrender. That is the County telling employees, loud and clear, that if the abuse comes from the right office, no one is coming to help you.

No elected official is above the law. Not here. Not ever. Federal and state laws protect employees from retaliation, discrimination, and hostile work environments. Those protections do not disappear because the person violating them holds power, wears a title, or has political allies.

Then came the so-called "reorganization plan" in August. Let us call it what it was: a public attempt to get rid of me. When that effort was met with public opposition, it was pulled back. But the goal did not change - only the method did. Soon after, my position was eliminated with the stroke of the keys on a keyboard. And when I went to Human Resources to ask about it, I learned the Human Resources Director did not even know my position was eliminated. Think about how outrageous that is. A County employee's job was erased, and Human Resources was apparently left in the dark. And what oversight followed that revelation? What investigation was launched? What accountability was demanded? None.

That is exactly the problem.

The people deserve the truth. County employees deserve protection. And every person reading this should understand what is at stake: when employees are punished for speaking up, silence becomes policy. When oversight disappears, abuse flourishes. When public officials are protected from scrutiny, the system stops serving the people and starts serving itself.

No employee should have to choose between telling the truth and keeping their job. No employee should have to fear retaliation for reporting misconduct. And no member of the public should accept a system where power shields itself and accountability is optional.

The people need to know. The employees deserve better. And this County owes the public answers.
