City of Pahokee Pahokee was incorporated in 1922. The name "Pahokee" means 'grassy waters' in the Creek language.

The City of Pahokee, incorporated in March 1922, is nestled at the shore of Lake Okeechobee and is known as the “Grassy Water Gateway To Lake Okeechobee”.

Locals refer to Pahokee as "The Muck" which refers to the mineral-rich dark soil in which sugarcane, citrus fruits and corn are grown by agribusinesses. It was once known as the "Winter Vegetable Capital of the World".

Consistent with the remainder of the City’s observed holidays for Fiscal Year 2025–2026, please be advised that City of Pahokee offices will be closed in observance of the following holidays:

🇺🇸 Labor Day – Monday, September 7, 2026

Over the years, she became a valued partner of our team, and we are deeply grateful to PrimeStar Digital for sharing her talent, kindness, and dedication with us. We also want to acknowledge how loved and respected she was by countless people beyond our organization.

Please be advised that FDOT construction activities for the S.R. 700 (Conners Highway) Embankment Repairs – Slope Protection Project are scheduled to begin in June 2026 with an estimated completion in late 2026.

Residents may experience temporary traffic impacts, delays, lane closures, and increased construction activity in the area.

Please note that the City is not affiliated with or overseeing this FDOT project. This information is being shared solely as a courtesy to keep residents informed.
