🇺🇸 Welcome Home, Veterans! 🇺🇸

Members of VFW Auxiliary 3830 were honored and grateful to welcome home our veterans as they returned to Hilo tonight from their unforgettable Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.

It was heartwarming to hear about their wonderful experiences and how special and appreciated they were made to feel throughout their journey.

One particularly touching moment was Mail Call aboard the plane, when each veteran received an envelope filled with heartfelt letters of gratitude written by schoolchildren from across Hawaiʻi, thanking them for their service and sacrifice.

What a beautiful reminder that their service has not been forgotten and that generations of Americans are grateful for the freedoms they helped protect.

Welcome home, and mahalo for your service! 🇺🇸❤️🤍💙

COMMUNITY SUPPORT REQUEST

VFW Post 3830 Pāhoa & VFW Auxiliary
Helping Residents Affected by Hurricane Lala

Location: VFW Post 3830, 15-775 Maluhia Road, Pāhoa, HI 96778

Point of Contact: Pat Sauer 808-936-7611

VFW Post 3830 in Pāhoa and the VFW Auxiliary are opening their doors to help residents who are still without electrical power following Hurricane Lala.

They will be providing a community dinner from 4-6 tonight, Thursday, and a place where affected residents can get something to eat and charge their cell phones, tablets, computers, and other essential electronic devices while they wait for power to be restored.

We are asking our community, veterans organizations, businesses, churches, and anyone who would like to help to consider donating food items to support the dinner.
Suggested donations include:
• Desserts and baked goods
• Snacks
• Bottled water or other non-alcoholic drinks
• Ready-to-serve food items

Many families are still unable to cook meals or keep their communication devices charged. Something as simple as bringing a dessert, a food item, or drinks can help make a difficult situation a little easier for our neighbors.

This is an opportunity for all of us to come together and show what community helping community truly means.

Every donation helps. Every meal helps. Every charged phone helps someone stay connected.

Please share this message with family, friends, veterans organizations, churches, businesses, and community groups.
Mahalo for supporting our Pāhoa community and our neighbors during their time of need.

THANK YOU!
What an incredible morning!

Thank you to our runners, walkers, rollers, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters for making the A Salute to Our Veterans Hilo Bay 5K a tremendous success. Together we honored our veterans, celebrated America’s 250th Birthday, and strengthened our community.
