PAWSD Updates Provided to EOC

Last night around 6:30pm, the water main running through the river at 1st street and Hwy 160 was damaged during the flooding. The Distribution Crew isolated several valves as we systematically worked through finding the source of the problem. The crew ended up isolating the Reservoir Hill Tank valve and the valve on 1st street bridge. This put customers out of water from Cole's Meat Processing on Hwy 84 to the first street bridge. The customers on the south side of Hwy 160 were affected for a short period of time. The customers on the north side of Hwy 160 are tapped off another water line and are not affected by the break. PAWSD maintained about 13 feet of water in Reservoir Hill Tank and 25 feet of water in Cemetery Tank while the break was isolated. Full operating pressure was restored by 8:30pm.

The Distribution Crews went back out at 9am to work on an option to back feed the customers that are out of water. There is an old PRV at Bob's LP that they are working on removing the internals that would give the ability to back feed the isolated line. The PAWSD office sent out Dropcountr messaging and Facebook messaging last night to effected customers that water pressure may be low or temporary no water. Today updated messaging will be sent to advise affected customers to flush their water lines in their homes and businesses as water is restored.

PAWSD crews were able to locate a main water line bypass behind Bob's LP that served an old PRV. Opening that bypass gave PAWSD the ability to back feed the customers between 1st street bridge and Cole's Meat Processing on Hwy 84. Only customers on the south side of Hwy 160 between these were affected. PAWSD crews flushed each fire hydrant in the affected area. The last meter on Hwy 84 was removed and water flushed through it.

All customers are back in water as of 11:30 am on October 12th. PAWSD has two more river crossing on the San Juan River that will be monitored during the remainder of the storm. There is a river crossing at south 2nd street and another river crossing behind Bob's LP. Both areas can be isolated but will cause water outages down Hwy 84 if this were to occur.

PAWSD crews have purged the affected main lines. If discolored water remains, run all fixtures in your home until the water runs clear. This typically takes 15-20 minutes.

PAWSD customers on and around 2nd Street, a main water line break has been identified. PAWSD crews have isolated the break. Customers may experience no water or low pressure at this time. PAWSD crews will begin working on repairs tomorrow morning 10/12/2025 at 9:00 am. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause while our crews work to restore water to customers that are without due to this unplanned break in the system. Thank you!
