FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Pagedale Police Department is providing the following update regarding an Assault 1st Degree investigation that occurred on May 25, 2026, in the 1800 block of Pennsylvania Avenue.

The victim, who was leaving church at the time of the incident, reported that two trucks began following him. One of the trucks allegedly forced the victim down a street while the second truck maneuvered in a manner that boxed the victim in. The suspect, identified as Jonathan Gonzalez of St. John, Missouri, exited one of the trucks, produced a firearm, and fired approximately eleven (11) shots at the victim while the victim was seated in the driver’s seat of a white Chrysler 300.

Both trucks fled the scene. The victim followed the suspect vehicle and was able to obtain the license plate number. During the investigation, officers developed Jonathan Gonzalez as a suspect and conducted a photo lineup. The victim positively identified Gonzalez from the photo lineup. Additionally, digital evidence and camera footage reviewed during the investigation showed Gonzalez in the area at the time of the shooting, further supporting his involvement in this incident.

As a result of the investigation, the case was presented to the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. Jonathan Gonzalez has been charged with the following offenses:

Count 01: Assault 1st Degree or Attempt – Class B Felony
Count 02: Armed Criminal Action – Class U Felony
Count 03: Unlawful Use of a Weapon – Subsection 9, Shooting At/From a Motor Vehicle, At a Person, Motor Vehicle, or Building – Class B Felony
Count 04: Armed Criminal Action – Class U Felony

A judge reviewed the complaint and issued a warrant with a bond set at $200,000.00 cash only.

The Pagedale Police Department believes the defendant poses a danger to the community based on the nature and circumstances of the offense.

This remains an active investigation. Anyone with additional information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Pagedale Police Department.

All persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
