NEWS RELEASE:

On May 30, 2026, at approximately 1135am, Officer Ethan Young conducted a traffic stop on a silver 2024 Chevrolet Silverado pickup for multiple traffic violations. The vehicle stopped at a business in the 2000 block of Industrial Drive. The driver immediately exited the vehicle and was observed carrying a handgun on his hip, which was secured for officer safety reasons.

During the course of the investigation, a police canine TEAM arrived on scene (Officer Nick Aulston and K-9 Bacon). K-9 Bacon conducted a free-air sniff around the exterior of the vehicle and positively alerted to the presence of illegal drug odor.

A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted. Sales quantities of presumptive co***ne and fentanyl were located within the vehicle, and also in possession of the driver. There was also paraphernalia located with the drugs that is consistent with illegal drug sales.

The driver was booked for Possession of Narcotics, Possession of Narcotics for Sale, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Misconduct Involving Weapons.

It should be noted that on 4-24-26, a person was found deceased of a possible drug overdose at a residence in Page that they shared with the suspect in this case. A search warrant was obtained and illegal drugs believed to be fentanyl and co***ne were located and seized from inside of the residence, as was paraphernalia consistent with illegal drug sales. Both cases remain active and additional charges may be forthcoming against the person we booked today and other individuals who may be involved in both cases.

Pictured are photos taken during the investigation.

Great work Peoria Police RTCC staff, as well as the officers who responded to this incident!! Peoria PD is a partner of Page PD, and their staff has provided our own RTCC employees instruction and guidance while setting up our RTCC here in Page, which has resulted in many of our successes and has helped us make our community safer. Partnerships between law enforcement agencies benefit everyone except the criminals, and our relationship with Peoria PD reflects that as much as any. Memorial Day Weekend Update:

As with most law enforcement agencies across the state, Page PD officers and civilian staff were busy throughout the holiday weekend. Aside from traffic stops and typical calls for service, our officers responded to the following:

Incident 1:
On 5-21-26, Page Unified School District staff reported a person trying to illegally enter the high school graduation who threatened the officials when they tried to stop him.

When our officers arrived, the suspect began running and almost got hit by a car when he ran into traffic on Lake Powell Boulevard. Officers began chasing the suspect on foot. When they caught up to him, he took a fighting stance and began threatening our officers. An officer deployed his department issued Taser, which was not effective. The suspect began physically resisting arrest, and was eventually taken into custody. The suspect was booked into the Coconino County Jail for Disorderly Conduct, Obstructing a Public Thoroughfare, Threatening, and Resisting Arrest.

Incident 2:
On 5-21-26, Page PD received an alert from a License Plate Reader that a vehicle which had been reported stolen from the Navajo Nation was inside the Page City Limits. Officers began searching for the vehicle and eventually, Officer Brandon Callio located it. Officers learned the operator's driver's license had been suspended by the court in an unrelated case. The driver was charged and the vehicle was impounded. Navajo PD was notified and are attempting to locate the owner of the vehicle so it can be returned to the lawful owner.

Incident 3:
On 5-22-26, officers were dispatched to a restaurant parking lot to investigate a domestic violence incident in progress. While officers were responding, the reporting person told our dispatcher that a small child had been dropped during the argument. Shortly thereafter, the suspect placed the child inside of a vehicle and fled from the area.

Officer Ethan Young located the vehicle on State Route 98 and initiated a traffic stop. Upon contacting the occupants, Officer Young learned the driver appeared to be intoxicated and was operating the vehicle with three children (ages 11 mo., 8 yrs, 12 yrs) inside the vehicle. Officer Young conducted a DUI investigation and arrested the driver. During the investigation, the driver submitted to a preliminary breath test, which showed their BrAC to be 0.161, over two times the legal limit. Blood was later collected and will be analyzed to determine the actual blood alcohol level.

The investigation revealed that the driver had been arguing with another person, who pushed the driver, and then fled the scene. The person our officer stopped gathered up the infant and then fled in a vehicle with a total of 3 minor passengers. Domestic Violence related charges will be filed against the person who fled. The driver was booked for Aggravated DUI, 3 counts of Aggravated DUI with a Minor inside the Vehicle, and 3 counts of felony Endangerment. The infant was transported to the hospital and evaluated. This case is being referred to the Department of CHild Services.

Incident 4:
On 5-22-26, officers were dispatched to the skate park to investigate a report a male was holding a rock while threatening to kill a female. Personnel assigned to the Real Time Crime Center began monitoring the suspect and directed officers to him. When officers arrived, the suspect began to flee on foot. Our officers pushed the suspect to the ground and were able to get him handcuffed without further incident.

The investigation revealed the suspect had been caught looking through the victim's purse when she was not looking. When she confronted the suspect, he picked up the rock and began threatening to kill her. He threw the rock at the victim but thankfully did not strike her. The suspect picked up a second rock and began walking toward the victim but changed directions when he saw the police vehicles. The suspect was booked for felony Disorderly Conduct with a Weapon, 2 counts of Threatening, Disorderly Conduct, and Resisting Arrest.

Incident 5:
On 5-24-26, Officer Nick Aulston attempted to stop a vehicle for traveling 47mph in a posted 40mph zone. The vehicle immediately fled. Officer Aulston briefly stayed behind the vehicle, which was rapidly increasing its speed. Officer Aulston terminated the traffic stop and ceased following it. Later, we learned the vehicle struck another vehicle on U.S. 89, while it was passing vehicles in a No Passing Zone. The driver then fled the scene. This case is still under investigation.

Today being Memorial Day, please take a moment to honor and remember the brave men and women of our Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. We can honor the fallen by remembering them, displaying the United States Flag at half-staff, and sharing their legacy with others, especially children. As the saying goes,

“Our Flag does not fly because the wind moves it. It flies with the last breath of each soldier who died protecting it." -Unknown

I hope everybody, especially those protecting our country here and abroad, have a safe and peaceful day.

NEWS RELEASE:

On 05/19/2026 at approximately 12:53pm, Officers Desmond Sandoval and Nick Aulston were working together in one unit when they conducted a traffic stop on a sedan. Officer Nick Aulston recognized a passenger in the vehicle and checked for wants and warrants. Dispatch advised Officer Aulston that the passenger had a felony warrant for his arrest, along with an alert that the individual is known to be armed.

When the passenger was told he was under arrest for the warrant, he refused to exit the vehicle and began reaching for something around his waist area. Our officers physically gained control of him, at which time Officer Aulston felt an object tucked in his waist that he believed to be a firearm. Officer Aulston gained control of the object and confirmed it was a pistol. Officers eventually placed the suspect into handcuffs without further incident.

The pistol was found to be a loaded semi-automatic M&P 9MM handgun that was fully loaded with a round in the chamber. Additionally, the serial number had been ground off of the frame. The passenger was booked for the felony warrant and misconduct involving fi****ms, a felony in the State of Arizona. The firearm will be sent to the crime lab for analysis, and more charges may be forthcoming.

Pictured is the pistol officers removed from the suspect.

On May 13, 2026, during the regular meeting of the Page City Council, Vice Mayor Mike Farrow delivered the following statement on behalf of the City of Page in recognition of National Police Week and in honor of the dedicated officers, dispatchers, and support staff of the Page Police Department for their service to the community.
___________________

Tonight, we pause to recognize and honor National Police Week and the men and women of the Page Police Department who stand watch over our community every day.

Law enforcement is more than a profession; it is a commitment to service, sacrifice, courage, and responsibility. Our officers willingly step into difficult and dangerous situations so that our families, businesses, schools, and visitors may live safely and securely. They see people on their worst days, yet continue to answer the call with professionalism and compassion.

During National Police Week, we also remember the officers across this nation who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, and we honor the families who stand beside them through every challenge and uncertainty.

On behalf of the City Council and the citizens of Page, thank you to our officers, dispatchers, support staff, and all law enforcement professionals who serve this community with dedication and integrity. We are grateful for your commitment, proud of your service, and we stand firmly behind you.

May God Bless and protect all who wear the badge.

This year, May 10-16 is observed as National Police Week, which is set aside to honor law enforcement's service and sacrifice. The week pays tribute to law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty.

Chief Tim Lange said, "On May 4th, members of our staff attended the Arizona Law Enforcement Memorial Service in Phoenix, which pays tribute to officers who have died in the line of duty in Arizona. This week, we all should pause and pay tribute to all law enforcement officers who have paid the ultimate sacrifice protecting communities in our country. The fact law enforcement officers are bound by law to respond to and face life-threatening situations separates them from almost every other profession. There is no other profession in which expectations are higher.

I also want to express my gratitude to our current officers and their families who put the oath they took to the test every day. It’s a difficult job, and you’re all special people for taking on this huge responsibility."

This morning the Page Police and Fire Communications Center received several 911 calls reporting a one vehicle rollover on Navajo Route 20 near the LeChee Chapter House. Because the Navajo Police Department did not have any officers in the area, Page Police and Fire units responded and secured the scene until a Coconino County Sheriff's Deputy arrived and took over the investigation. Speed appears to be a factor in the cause of this accident.
