Tamra Dodson was sworn in today as Deputy Coroner by District Judge Todd Jones.

Tamra brings extensive experience to our office. She is currently employed as a social worker/bereavement coordinator for Mercy Health Hospice. She was formerly employed by DCBS where she conducted CPS/APS investigations.

We welcome her to our team.

NEWS RELEASE: Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 1 detectives are conducting an investigation into the death of a McCracken County Jail inmate earlier this week.

On Tuesday, May 27, 2026, KSP Post 1 was contacted by the McCracken County Jail advising that an inmate had been found unresponsive and was being transported to a local hospital. At the hospital the inmate was pronounced deceased. KSP was requested by the jail to investigate the death of the inmate.

The initial investigation shows that the inmate, identified as Michael Sackatook, 29 years old of Paducah, had been housed in an isolation cell under constant surveillance. Surveillance footage was reviewed and no foul play was suspected.

An autopsy was conducted on Wednesday, May 28. During the autopsy, medical complications were discovered and no indication of foul play was found.

The investigation is ongoing by Detective Propes.
