Got a chance to talk local issues with Senator Robby Mills last night. Mills has been to Paducah over 4 times in the last few weeks. It would be nice to have a friend of western Kentucky in leadership.

Thank you to Bill Bartleman for his friendship, support and endorsement. His endorsement reads as follows:

I urge voters in McCracken to reelect Eddie Jones 3rd District McCracken County Commissioner. My endorsement isn’t because he’s a Republican or because of any criticism of his opponent, but because he’s done an excellent job, works hard and the county will benefit from him serving another term.

I’ve closely watched the fiscal court for 50 years, first as a reporter for the Paducah Sun covering many meetings and for the last 8 years as the 1st District Commissioner (I’m unopposed on Tuesday). Eddie has worked as hard and spent more time doing good things for the county than anyone in the past. He believes in teamwork and works closely with other members of the fiscal count to build consensus and share success.

He researched the law and found a way to impose a tax on visitors to the county to pay for a long-needed outdoor sports complex (construction will begin next year). He recognized the need for an indoor facility for volleyball and basketball after the sports plex closed, and worked with the convention center to develop courts in the expo center. The benefit hundreds of young athletes and has been an economic shot in the arm for Paducah with out of town teams coming to play in tournaments.

He's constantly looking for ways to improve Carson Park and pushed for replacing the fence along 28th Street to improve the curb appeal. It was done with grant funds.

He’s been a proponent of improving our economic development efforts and led the charge for reorganization of the Industrial Development Authority and the Greater Paducah Economic Development that has improved accountability and focus that will reap rewards with quality jobs.

He’s worked hard to make sure the county has a voice in the improvements to the 911 emergency dispatch system to balance public safety with affordability.

More could be said.

Every voter in McCracken County can vote for commissioner. Mark you ballot for Eddie.

I would appreciate your vote for another term to complete several projects. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to participate in public service these past 4 years. I feel like I have worked it hard. I promise to keep working hard. The experience has truly enriched my life with many new friendships. We have a great community!
