Yesterday's Cooling Center was a great example of what can be accomplished when our community comes together. McCracken County is truly blessed to have leaders who care, community partners and volunteers who continually answer the call to serve. When government, churches, nonprofit organizations, first responders, and volunteers work together with a shared purpose, our community is stronger, more resilient, and better prepared to care for those in need.
McCracken County Emergency Management would like to extend our appreciation to McCracken County Judge Executive Craig Clymer, Deputy Judge Executive Steve Ervin, and the Fiscal Court for their continued support in making the Cooling Center possible. While many only saw the doors open, both the Judge and Deputy Judge were working behind the scenes to help coordinate and ensure everything came together quickly for our community.
A special thank you also goes to Pastor Jason Medley, Mt. Zion Baptist Church, and their incredible volunteers for graciously opening your facility. Your kindness, hospitality, and willingness to serve exemplified what it means to care for your neighbors.
We would also like to thank the American Red Cross Volunteers for providing personnel to assist at the Cooling Center. Your continued partnership during times of need is greatly appreciated.
To the volunteers of the McCracken County Rescue Squad, thank you! Many of these volunteers had already been assisting with traffic control before canvassing the affected neighborhoods, ensuring residents knew a Cooling Center was available. They then continued serving throughout the evening at the center. Their dedication is a true testament to the volunteer spirit that makes our community stronger.
