Reminder! You’re invited to the City of Paducah’s Flag Day Celebration on Monday, June 15 from 9 until 10 a.m. at Dolly McNutt Memorial Plaza, 301 South 5th Street. The event includes a flag-raising ceremony, the singing of the national anthem, educational displays, and children’s activities. Washington Street between 5th and 6th streets will be closed during the event.

The celebration is organized by the Paducah Parks & Recreation Department in partnership with the Sons of the Revolution, Daughters of the Revolution, U.S. Coast Guard, McCracken County Public Library, and the City of Paducah Police and Fire departments.

Flag Day commemorates June 14, 1777, when the Continental Congress approved the design of a national flag. In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation establishing June 14 as National Flag Day.

It was a beautiful morning for a ribbon cutting. Today, the City and County came together to celebrate the completion of the 911 Radio Tower Project. Congratulations to the graduates of the Paducah Citizens’ Academy. This year marks the Academy’s sixth graduating class. Graduates who were able to attend were recognized at last night’s City Commission meeting.

Earlier this month, participants completed the Academy’s nine-week voluntary program, which provides an opportunity to learn about local government and Paducah’s various departments. To receive a certificate, participants were required to attend at least seven of the nine sessions.

The 2026 Paducah Citizens’ Academy graduates are as follows in alphabetical order: Carmela Ballard, Jeffrey Carlson, Linda Carlson, Vince Carter, Carrie Childers, Carol Dismukes, Matthew Evinger, Christina George, Dinah Gihring, Donald Gihring, Meredith Schroeder, Matthew Scott, and Milagros Teves-Mani. Two City employees also participated in the class: Daisha Johnson and Ian Puckett.

Join us live at 10 a.m. today for the ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the completion of the 911 Radio Tower Project.
This milestone marks the culmination of five years of planning and collaboration between the City of Paducah and McCracken County to strengthen emergency communications throughout the community. The new radio system enhances coverage and reliability for first responders, public safety agencies, and residents across the region.
The ceremony will include remarks from local leaders, a brief overview of the project, and a formal tower dedication.
