Today, as we near the close of 2025, Mike González, our Executive Director (pictured), was honored to receive gift card donations from Christine Hunt—a former Gateway Center leader and longtime advocate for the intellectual and developmental disabilities community.

Christine stopped by on behalf of St. Angela Merici Parish, which hosted a December Giving Tree 🎄 to support the people and programs of Gateway Center.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the St. Angela Merici Parish congregation for their generosity and continued partnership. Moments like these remind us of the power of community and compassion. ❤️

Monterey County Gives! is officially underway — and Gateway Center is honored to participate once again. Since launching on November 13, our goal is clear and ambitious: raise $100,000 by December 31 to strengthen a lifeline for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in our community.

For more than 60 years, Gateway Center of Monterey County has been a place where dignity, safety, independence, and belonging are not just values — they’re lived experiences.

Every day, across Pacific Grove, Marina, and Salinas, we provide:
🏡 24/7 residential care
🌱 Day and community programs
🤝 Supported & Independent Living Services
💙 Safe, welcoming, and empowering spaces to thrive

And the need continues to grow.

Why this matters: Gateway Center supports some of Monterey County’s most vulnerable adults — individuals and families who rely on us for stability, care, and continuity of services. Your investment helps ensure that this lifeline remains strong.

Through Monterey County Gives!, your donation will:
✨ Strengthen essential services
✨ Support critical facility improvements
✨ Enhance safety, resilience, and accessibility
✨ Directly impact the individuals who call Gateway Center home

This campaign is our most important fundraiser of the year — and we cannot reach our $100,000 goal without community support.

If you believe in a Monterey County where every adult with I/DD is
valued, supported, and included, we invite you to join us.

Subject: Request for Tree Trimming Assistance at Gateway Center

Good morning, family and friends,

As many of you know, our property at 850 Congress has numerous trees, and unfortunately, one caused significant damage to ICF1. We have obtained a tree trimming permit from the City of Pacific Grove, but due to the ongoing expenses associated with getting ICF1 back up and running and managing the move, we’ve had to put tree trimming on hold for now.

We are reaching out to our family, friends, and the community for assistance. We’re in need of a tree trimming service to help us care for the trees on the Gateway Congress Avenue facility property. If you or someone you know has the resources and could donate their services, we would be deeply grateful for your support.

Please contact Debra Machado at 205.306.9433 if you are able to assist or know of someone who can.

Thank you for your continued support and generosity.
