Deborah Denesea Griffin

With heavy hearts and profound gratitude, we celebrate the remarkable life and legacy of Deborah Denesea Griffin, who passed away peacefully on June 27, 2026, in Ozark, Alabama. Born on December 15, 1963, in Haynes City, Florida, Deborah's journey was one rich in love, service, and unshakeable devotion to her family, friends, and community.

Deborah's life was a testament to compassion and generosity. From an early age, her warmth and kindness left an indelible impression on all who knew her. She grew up under the careful guidance of her father, Willie Ned Barton, who survives her, and memories of her beloved mother, Gladys Clara Rodgers, who preceded her in death, remained close to her heart throughout her life. These early influences helped shape Deborah into a beacon of strength, understanding, and grace for everyone who crossed her path.

Her educational pursuits led her to undertake studies at Enterprise State Community College. Through her commitment to bettering herself and those around her, Deborah found her passion in social work. She dedicated her career to Ozark Health and Rehabilitation, where she served as a social worker with empathy and patience. Day by day, she offered comfort, counsel, and practical help to individuals and families, leaving a legacy of genuine care and professionalism in the hearts of those she touched.

Life’s true fulfillment for Deborah was found in her family. The bonds she nurtured were deep and enduring, providing both joy and solace throughout her days. She is lovingly remembered by her children: Rickey Barton and his wife Tina, Lajuana Crittenden, Latoya Barton, Lametria Griffn, and Lamar Griffin. Their lives are marked by the lessons she imparted—of resilience, honesty, and faith. Deborah’s devotion extended to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Jalen Barton, Karaun Taylor, Kevon Crittendon, Amarion Stewart, Jakeem Barton, Amya Jones, Juelz Rambert, Davion Everhart, Omarion Everhart, Jaycion Williams, Kasai Taylor, and Kristian Crittendon. Each one carries forward her love—an ever-present force in their lives.

Though there is great sorrow in her passing, Deborah’s family and friends find comfort in the memories of her joyful spirit. She found delight in simple pleasures—playing cards with loved ones, feeling the sand and sun at the beach, and living each day with the grace and guidance of her Christian faith. Her laughter, gentle wisdom, and unwavering support will be profoundly missed but never forgotten.

To honor Deborah’s life, family and friends are invited to share in remembrance at the visitation on July 3, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Newman Mortuary INC, 114 Harper Dr, Ozark, Alabama. A funeral service will follow on July 4, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Willow Oaks, 660 Willow Oaks Drive, Ozark, Alabama. Deborah will then be laid to rest at Greater Old Salem Baptist Church, 2116 County Road 38, Ozark, Alabama, with a burial service beginning at 1:00 PM.

Deborah Denesea Griffin touched deeply all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her life was a sanctuary of love, steadfastness, and hope—a foundation upon which generations will continue to build. Though dearly missed, she lives on through the legacy of her actions and the multitude of people whose lives she graced.
