Today, our Oyster Bay school community came together in remembrance and reflection as we honored the lives lost on September 11, 2001.
Students from every grade gathered in the auditorium to watch The Man in the Red Bandana, while our Social Studies classes engaged in meaningful lessons to help students better understand the significance of this day. Throughout the day, we observed six moments of silence to honor each moment a plane struck or a tower fell.
In every classroom, students also viewed a documentary created by our talented broadcasting students about Oyster Bay alumna Brooke Jackman, who tragically lost her life on 9/11. Hearing the story of a young woman who once walked the same hallways as our students was especially powerful and deeply moving.
We remember. We reflect. We honor.
Oyster Bay will never forget.
