Many leaders seem to forget that leading others, more than anything else, should be held in reverence. Being a leader means that you have been placed in a position to serve others.

Too often, I have seen leaders duck and cover, throw their people under the bus, throw their positional weight around, and instead of leading from a place of service, lead from a place of ego when things get rough.

You are privileged to be in a position where you can direct, shape, and focus people’s potential on a specific result. When you are given the responsibility to lead, you are given a tremendous opportunity to influence many people's lives positively; a responsibility you should never take for granted.

"Our Servicemen and women are serving throughout the world as guardians of peace--many of them away from their homes, their friends and their families. They are visible evidence of our determination to meet any threat to the peace with measured strength and high resolve. They are also evidence of a harsh but inescapable truth--that the survival of freedom requires great cost and commitment, and great personal sacrifice."
~ President John F. Kennedy, 1963

Posted on behalf of Central American Resource Center (CARECEN)

As you may know the Governor of Texas promised to “round up illegal immigrants and send them to the steps of the Capitol in Washington DC.” He has followed-up on his promise and since last Wednesday 6 buses have arrived. Organization and volunteers have organized to welcome immigrants to ensure that people have the necessary resources. Most are not staying in DC since they are going to other destinations. But this people have been recently released from immigration custody and quickly offered a bus ride to DC. Our efforts have ensured that people are welcomed with food, cloth, sometimes a place to sleep for the night but most importantly we have been purchasing bus, train, airplane tickets so they can reach their final destinations. Most of the immigrants on the buses are coming from Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua. We need Spanish speakers to help these people feel welcomed. If your are interested in assisting there is a volunteer sign up link. Let me know if you have anu questions.
