✂️🆕Not all trails are created equal, and Piru’s Pothole Trail just got a serious upgrade. Los Padres Forest Association (LPFA) and United Water Conservation District (United Water) marked the completion of a reimagined 1.8-mile route Sunday with a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Pothole Trailhead, a trail redesigned from the ground up to be more accessible, more sustainable, and frankly, a better hike.

Sunday’s ceremony drew Fillmore Council Member Mario Rodriguez; Michael Durazo, representing Ventura County Supervisor Kelly Long; United Water Board President Lynn Maulhardt; and United Water Directors Steve Huber and Gordon Kimball, along with representatives from Southern California Edison, the U.S. Forest Service, and at least one deer.🥾🦌

United Water is honored to be accredited as the Special District Leadership Foundation's (SDLF) District of Distinction, placing United Water among the highest performing public agencies in California and affirming its commitment to strong governance, fiscal discipline, and public accountability. 🏅

Only ~2% of California’s more than two thousand special districts have earned District of Distinction accreditation, and we stand as the only special district in Ventura County to hold this designation. It was a privilege to have representatives from SDLF all the way from Sacramento here to celebrate with us! 🎉
