⛈️ Storm Damage Reminder for Residents ⛈️

With Saturday night's storm, areas south and east of Oxford experienced hail damage. As a result, you may see roofing companies in town assessing roofs and offering repair services.

Please use caution when selecting a contractor and be sure to get multiple quotes before making a decision. After severe storms, it is common for contractors to canvass affected areas, so homeowners should verify credentials and carefully research companies before signing any agreements.

While the City of Oxford does not require roofing permits for this type of work, all contractors doing business within the city are required to be licensed with the City of Oxford.

Additionally, anyone going door-to-door soliciting business within city limits is required to have a City of Oxford Solicitor's Permit. Residents are encouraged to ask to see this permit before engaging with any solicitor.

If a solicitor refuses to show their permit, please call 911 and report the incident so our officers can make contact and inform the solicitor of the City's code requirements.

If you are unsure whether a company is properly licensed with the City, please call City Hall and we will be happy to verify their licensing status for you.

🏠 Protect your home, do your research, and don't feel pressured to make an immediate decision. Taking time to gather multiple estimates can help ensure you receive quality work at a fair price.

For the 4th of July celebration, you will see some of the same street closures and camping restrictions around Napawalla Park that are in place during Watermelon Feed. If you plan to put your camper at the park you will need to have it on the south end of the park. We will be placing notices of closure the last week of June and if you are parked in a restricted area you will be asked to move.

The northeast side of Napawalla will be closed to campers and reserved for activities taking place throughout the day, as well as for residents who want to set up and enjoy the fireworks display.

Colorado Street on the west side of Napawalla will be closed all day on July 4th for the fireworks setup. If you need to access the west side of the park, please plan to walk across the bridges from the east side.

A designated area will be marked and set up for the Bring Your Own Co****le Boards event. Yard games and the giant 4th of July sprinkler will be set up on the north side of Napawalla, providing plenty of fun for all ages throughout the evening!

Kona Ice of Central Wichita will be parked across from the playground from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. We will share their menu as we get closer to the holiday.

Don't forget to bring your lawn chairs and blankets and settle in for an evening of free live music on the stage behind the South Pavilion.

Please remember that the various events taking place during the celebration are being organized by different groups. If you have questions about a specific event, please contact the organization hosting that activity directly.

All events, including those scheduled for July 3rd and July 4th, are subject to weather conditions.

As part of our ongoing street maintenance program, we have ProSeal out of Wichita coming to town next week to complete reclamite work on the south side of town.

You may remember this process from last year when we treated the northeast part of town. While the work takes several days to complete, streets are only closed for part of each day.

So, what is reclamite and why do we do it? Reclamite is a pavement preservation treatment that helps restore oils and flexibility to asphalt as it ages. Think of it like conditioner for your streets—it helps prevent cracking, slows down wear and tear, and extends the life of the pavement. This type of preventative maintenance helps us protect our streets and avoid more costly repairs in the future.

Today, the ProSeal team is in town placing door hangers on homes in the south end of town. These hangers will explain what day your street is scheduled for work and ask that no vehicles be parked on the street that day to help the process move smoothly.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we continue working to maintain and improve our streets!
