🌧️ Nothing like a water leak in the rain! 💦

Our Utility Team has been hard at work this morning uncovering and repairing a 2-inch water line break on N. Pacific. 🚧👷‍♂️

To help relieve pressure in the line, the crew did have to open hydrants in the area. 🚒💧 This can result in temporarily lower water pressure and may cause some brown or discolored water.

💧 If you experience brown water, simply let your faucets run for 10–15 minutes to help flush your lines. If it doesn't clear up after that, please give the City Office a call. 📞

And if you happen to see the hole on Pacific... give the guy in it a wave! 👋😂 He's working hard to get everything back in order!

🏊‍♀️ THAT’S A WRAP ON THE 2026 POOL SEASON! 🏊‍♂️

The 2026 pool season has officially come to an end! While we’re a little sad to see summer fade into fall, we’re so happy to look back on a season filled with fun, laughter, and lots of memories at the Oxford Public Pool!

This summer, our community showed up in a BIG way:

🏊 2,350 general admissions between pool passes and cash-paying customers!

🎉 19 pool parties — so many birthdays, celebrations, and good times!

☀️ 5 FREE SWIMS, thanks to our amazing community sponsors:
• Oxford Lions Club
• Oxford Saw & Mower
• Wheatstate Technologies

🌙 Our July 3rd Late Swim broke records and was an incredible way to kick off the holiday weekend!

🎊 We hosted our 1st Annual Teen Night Party and had a blast!

🌺 Our Luau Party brought the tropical vibes to Oxford!

🍦 And let’s not forget the concession stand! You all kept us busy, with more than $3,500 in concession sales — with cans of Dr. Pepper and ice cream bars definitely being some of the crowd favorites!

Most importantly,THANK YOU to everyone who came out, brought your families, celebrated birthdays, attended events, grabbed a snack, or simply spent a summer afternoon at the pool. You are what makes our community special.

A HUGE thank-you to our pool managers, lifeguards, staff, volunteers, sponsors, and everyone who helped make the 2026 season such a success. We couldn’t have done it without you!

Now it’s time to say goodbye to swimsuits and hello to fall… but don’t worry, summer will be back before we know it! ☀️💦

🐾 ANNUAL OXFORD ANIMAL CLINIC 🐾

We are happy to announce that our Annual Animal Clinic is coming up! We’re excited to welcome back Bruce Veterinary Service to Oxford on Saturday, October 10th, from 9:00 AM–12:00 PM.

Their mobile veterinary clinic will be set up in front of the City Shop, giving Oxford-area pet owners the opportunity to bring their animals in for services listed on the flyer. If your pet has a minor injury or illness, they can also be seen that day.

🐶 2027 City Dog Tags

2027 City Dog Tags will be available for purchase beginning Monday, October 12th, at the City Office.

Please note: We will NOT be selling dog tags at the Animal Clinic this year.

To purchase your 2027 dog tag, please bring:
• Proof of current rabies vaccination
• $5.00 per tag

☀️🥵 Kansas Heat=Your A/C: Working Overtime!

If you’ve looked at your utility bill lately and thought, “Whew… that’s a little higher than normal!” — you’re not alone!

With this extended stretch of hot Kansas temperatures, your air conditioner has been working harder and running longer to keep your home cool. The hotter it is outside, the harder your A/C has to work to maintain that comfortable temperature inside — and that can mean higher-than-normal electricity usage.

And unfortunately, it looks like the heat isn’t planning on leaving anytime soon! 🥵 We’re expecting these hot temperatures to stick around for at least another 10 days, so keep in mind that the extra A/C usage you have over the next week or two will likely show up on next month’s utility bill.

A few things that can help:

🌡️ Bump your thermostat up a few degrees when you’re away or sleeping.
🌀 Keep those A/C filters clean — a dirty filter makes your system work harder.
☀️ Close blinds and curtains during the hottest part of the day to keep the sun from heating things up.
🚪 Keep doors and windows closed while your A/C is running.
💡 Turn off lights and electronics you aren’t using — every little bit helps!
🔥 Avoid using the oven during the hottest part of the day when possible. Try the grill, slow cooker, or an easy no-cook meal instead!

Remember, one of the biggest factors in your electric bill is simply how long your A/C is running. When temperatures stay in the 90s day after day, that equipment is putting in some serious overtime. 😅

So if your bill is looking a little warmer than usual, it may just be your A/C saying, “I’m doing my best!” 😂

The City of Oxford Office and Oxford Public Library will be closed on Monday, September 7th in observance of Labor Day.

Both offices will reopen with normal hours on Tuesday, September 8th.
