What a turnout for Fall Senior Adult Day today! 🏈🍁

Over 500 seniors from across the region joined us at the Oxford Civic Center for our tailgate-themed Senior Day. Guests enjoyed live music from Alabama Rain, 17 vendors, grilled hot dogs, door prizes, and more!

We loved seeing everyone sporting their favorite team colors and jerseys and joining in on the fun! Thank you to everyone who came out and made it such a great day. 🧡

This morning, our community gathered at Liberty Park to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and to honor the courage and sacrifice of the first responders who answered the call that day.

Twenty-five years later, their stories remain an important part of how we remember, educate future generations, and honor those who continue to serve.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in remembrance today. We will never forget.

The Calhoun County Blue Line Foundation’s 3rd Annual Touch-a-Truck is happening TOMORROW, Saturday, September 12, from 1–4 PM at the Anniston Regional Airport!
Bring the whole family out for a FREE afternoon of up-close fun with local law enforcement, fire departments, EMS, emergency management, aircraft and more! Meet the men and women who serve our communities, explore some incredible vehicles and equipment, and enjoy an afternoon of family fun.

A quick weather note: We are keeping a close eye on tomorrow’s forecast and are aware there is a chance of rain at different points during the day. As of right now, we are moving forward and looking forward to seeing everyone! We’ll also have access to indoor and covered areas at the airport.

Mayor Alton Craft joined fellow mayors from across Calhoun County today for the Calhoun County Area Chamber's annual State of the Cities event, hosted at the Oxford Performing Arts Center.

The mayors shared updates from their communities and discussed the growth and progress happening throughout our area.

We're proud to see our local leaders come together and highlight all that's happening across Calhoun County.

REMINDER: Oxford City Hall and city offices are closed today, Monday, September 7, for Labor Day.

🗑️ Please note Meridian Waste Services will not run today. Trash collection will be delayed one day due to the holiday. Regular pickup will resume Tuesday and continue one day behind schedule for the remainder of the week.

✂️ First Cahawba Bank is officially open in Oxford! The Selma-based financial institution celebrated the opening of its new branch at 1022 Snow Street with a ribbon-cutting ceremony today!

This is First Cahawba Bank’s fifth location and its first location in East Central Alabama. The new branch will offer a full range of banking services while bringing the bank’s community-focused approach to Oxford and the surrounding area.

The city of Oxford invites our community to join us for a 9/11 Memorial Service as we honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and remember the courage and sacrifice of those who answered the call.

The service will include the Presentation of Colors by Oxford Police Department and Oxford, Al Fire Department, the Pledge of Allegiance led by Oxford Health Systems Paramedics, official remarks, and the ringing of the bell.

Beginning January 1, 2027, new requirements will take effect for vacant commercial properties within the city of Oxford.

Under Ordinance No. 2026-26:
• Qualifying vacant properties must generally be registered within 30 days.
• Registration is $400 annually.
• Registered properties are subject to maintenance and monthly inspection requirements.
• Certain properties may qualify for an exemption.

Property owners are encouraged to review the full ordinance for complete registration requirements, exemptions, and property maintenance standards.
