The Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place this coming Sunday, December 8, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. at the Bandstand on Joslin Park. Santa will be at the Bandstand from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. There will also be entertainment from the Oxford High School Band and free cookies and hot chocolate.

Due to cloud cover and increased wind speeds, aerial spraying was suspended early on the evening of September 10, 2019. The Massachusetts Aerial Mosquito Spray Map (https://massnrc.org/spray-map/MidWorNorSept2019.htm) has been updated to show the sections that have been sprayed. Aerial spraying is expected to continue starting at 7:15 p.m. this evening (weather dependent) in areas that were not sprayed last night. Spraying will continue, as needed, on additional nights until completion of the spray zone.

Today State Public Health Officials notified Oxford aerial spraying for mosquitoes in Worcester County will begin tonight, Tuesday, September 10th and continue for several nights. Oxford is included in the spray zone. Spraying usually begins early evening, can continue until 4:30 a.m., is weather-dependent and subject to change.

Residents are advised to:

• Cover ornamental fish ponds

Residents may take added precautions during spray hours like:

• Close windows and turn off air conditioners.
• Keep pets indoors.
• Cover bee hives.

On Friday, March 23, 2018, there will be an informational meeting presented by the company Cureleaf regarding the possible sale of recreational ma*****na out of their facility at 425 Main Street. The 425 Main Street is already licensed for medical ma*****na sales and is expected to open soon for that purpose. The meeting is open to the public and will be held at the Community Center from 6 pm to 7 pm. The informational meeting is a requirement for them to obtain licensure for retail sales of recreational ma*****na.
